Maybe that's what you're thinking of? Scooter claimed (I believe) that Russert is the one that told him about Valerie.

now, the part I think is key, because it goes to the heart of just HOW complicit the M$M's role in forging the path to war, then denying/covering up their own role. and look who seems, in the eyes of the perpetrators themselves, to be their NUMBER ONE spigot:

here's the crux of the article, and why it amazes me so many here can't handle the truth, even if it comes so inconveniently upon a great man's passing, context of which is...Cheney's PR flacks, Libby, etal were discussing how BEST to get their message out, in case Tenet's statement WRT the yellowcake fiasco didn't put enough distance between the incipient firestorm and the White House:

on their list of whom would best serve their purposes, not to inform the American public, but to DECEIVE them, to OBSTRUCT their learning the truth about the provenance of the sordid escapade that culminated in the worst succssion of war crimes in US history, WHO was at the top? and remember, this came out in the trial, and is in THEIR OWN WORDS, not some speculation by dirty com/lib/symp Olbermann types:

_Put Cheney on "Meet the Press."


_Leak an exclusive version to a selected reporter or the weekly news magazines.


_Have national security adviser Condoleezza Rice or Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld hold a news conference.


_Persuade a third party or columnist to write an opinion piece that would appear in newspapers on the page opposite the editorials.

7. Russert was the key witness in the Libby case.

Should the Plame criminal case be re-opened against Rove based on new evidence, and I doubt that it would be, Russert's testimony could be very important. Of course, if Rove were to be indicted, it would most likely be for perjury and Russert's testimony might not be relevant at all.
