June 14th protest of the Church of $cientology
Every month since February, 2008, young people around the world have http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Chanology">staged protests against the most litigious organization to get religious status from the IRS, $cientology (http://www.xenutv.com).

This month's protest (code name: Operation Sea Arrrgh ) is Anonymous' June protest against the Paramilitary Arm of the world's most dangerous cult, $cientology's infamous "Sea Org".

Some basic information to know about Sea Org:

Members live in horrible conditions

Members suffer inhumane punishments

Members are forced to get abortions

Members, including minors, are treated like indentured servants

Members are put under tremendous psychological pressure

Members are denied proper medical care

Children are denied proper schooling and education

Members are forced to sign a "billion year contract" (http://latimes.image2.trb.com/lanews/media/acrobat/2005-12/21006456.pdf">Los Angeles Times) and made to work off an overwhelming debt

Members are forced into arranged marriages and made to attend Co$ "sexual counseling"

---------------------------------------------
Anonymous does not protest against what $cientologists believe, but rather against the organization, the Church of $cientology.

---------------------------------------------
For more information about why Anonymous is protesting, please click here. For advice/guidelines for protesting, please check the stickies http://forums.enturbulation.org/16-introduction-activism">here.

We do not forget.

3. I think Scientology is a black op gone horribly wrong.
Edited on Sat Jun-14-08 10:53 AM by arcadian
I think that in the 1950s, the CIA was heavily interested in subverting religious organizations and tried to see how hard it would be to create a religion. They enlisted Hubbard, poured tons of cash into his effort and then the guy just went completely bonkers, split off from the government, started popping pills, God complex, etc. The CIA keeps large files on Scientology and vice versa. This is all speculation on my part but it is supported by, Hubbard's own words and documents obtained from the National Archives about Scientology.

4. I've only recently heard about a CIA connection to the cult...
...but I tend to believe the more pedestrian explanation that Hubbard was a meglomaniac.

6. Like I said, it's specualtion on my part.
But it's not wild specualtion. CIA has a long history of subverting religious organizations. Sun Myung Moon's organization for example.

5. I had a friend who had been a Scientoligist for 30 years. He and his then fianace left
Scientology when she discovered that they were frauds. He never went into detail, but she worked in the main office and came across something damaging enough for them to leave. They broke up and he is now a Cabalist (he is still searching).

When he left, his friends and his son, still in the cult, shunned him.

7. I only learned about $cientology's "disconnection" practice...
...from Anonymous.

But, I knew they were a cult long before I heard about Anonymous and one of the characteristics of a cult is to separate members from people who don't share their beliefs.

I suspect that's why Will Smith "suddenly" announced his membership.

So sad that something like that can happen in this day and age.

a large portion of the film industry out there was controlled by Scientology. Will Smith probably did it as a career move.

10. I think he did it because of his kids.
Jada Pinkette-Smith is a $cientologist.

He never claimed one way or another.

Just recently some Hollywood gossip rag said he handed out coupons for some $cientology thing during a wrap party.

Hell, there are rumors that even Travolta is trying to get out, but he's got kids with a $cientologist wife, too.

Kidman Wants Kids Out of Scientology
AOL
Posted: 2008-04-19 12:16:39

(April 18) - Nicole Kidman is pregnant with her third child, but still worries about her older two.

L. Ron Hubbard may be the reason that Suri Cruise is still drinking from a bottle at the age of 2, Defamer suggests, reporting that the Scientology founder urged his followers to use his own special formula recipe that he obtained during time travel. Unfortunately, it contains honey, which can be toxic to young children.

The Oscar winner, who adopted Connor and Isabella with ex-husband Tom Cruise, hopes to take the 13-year old and 15-year-old out of the church of Scientology, Page Six reports.

The Catholic Kidman, now married to country singer Keith Urban, sees her kids very little since they "are deeply entrenched in Scientology."

Katie Holmes, Cruise's current wife, even admits that Kidman's son and daughter call her mom.

18. I'm not completely sure about Pinkett-Smith & Smith...
...so many rumors.

The magic eight ball says, however: sources point to yes. ( A Details magazine said she is homeschooling their kids using Elron's "tech")

What's sad is that $cientology says they can help people, where psychology only hurts them.

But, when Britney Spears was having her breakdown, not one $cientologist was around to help her when it was so obvious that she needed the very help they claim only they can provide.

And, allegedly, everyone in this picture is, or about to be.

At least that's what the rumor is. I'm no cult expert, but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Scientologists_by_nationality">Wikip*dia has lists of people who are members.

I've watched some of the videos on xenutv.com and those stories are horrific.

Exscientologykids.org has some sad ones too.

34. It's amazing what these Anonymous guys have accomplished in so little time
Edited on Mon Jun-16-08 08:37 AM by TornadoTN
I remember seeing something stuff about this back in Feb. but dismissed it as a well-intentioned stunt. But having spent some time reading some of those links, it's clear that the Scientology cult is having a hard time dealing with this group of "pirates" and they are having significant impact raising awareness and action. For being such a loosely-based affiliation of young people, they certainly have their shit together, so to speak.

We all have our causes and this is just as worthy as most any other. I applaud them for conducting themselves in the manner that they have and rallied others to their cause. I certainly think they can - and will - get the results they seek if they continue on their current path, and hopefully they will be compelled to join other causes as well.

I wonder what Moot thinks of all of this publicity? Or is he still in Mootixco with his server money?
