Tim Russert's big "lapel pin" moment, and it wasn't the American flag
he had tacked to his lapel. Remember this story as related by Al Gore? from: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Time%20for%20change/31

Confirmation of Russert’s political leanings (not that any is needed) come from an incident related by Al Gore to Anthony Lappe, which took place shortly before the 2000 election at the Al Smith dinner, attended by Gore and Bush. Here is Lappe’s description from his book:

At one point in the evening, Gore explains, Russert approached the candidates. As Gore was closest to him, Russert respectfully shook his hand and then moved on to Bush. Thinking that Gore had turned away, Russert shook Bush’s hand and, mischievously, turned over his jacket lapel to reveal a Bush campaign pin hidden under the fold.

Lots more about Russert's "balance" in the link. A very prescient article.

2. Russert was a gutless lackey who served his rich republican masters.
He served as a mouthpiece for Cheney's propaganda and was part and parcel of the criminal conspiracy against the American people.

6. Whoops, Howard DEAN shattered the MSRNC canonization by revealing that he and RUSSERT
talked to each other about their sons' beer escapades.

Plus, Jack WELCH let the cat out of the bag (as if it wasn't already), saying, "Every employee of General Electric thought that Tim was representing them."

9. I'll never forgive or forget his role in giving us Bush as president
I'm only sad that he never lived to see himself exposed for the hack that he was.

10. lunches with Limbaugh
and "best friends" with Carville....hell, I now know more about Tim Russert than my own family.
He was personally a decent guy, family man, loyal, etc. But professionally, he was a disaster. He was the guy who never makes waves, "gets along well with others", gives the appearance of playing both sides. Fine qualities if you sell insurance or work in an office or assembly line. Disasterous when you are a journalist. His legacy will not be what a great guy he was to the MSM inner circle, but how he enabled and promoted this war. I'm sorry Luke lost a father, and Liz a husband, and Russ a son, and media insiders lost a fishing partner.
Maybe I am callous, but I have noticed that Luke is not in uniform, Luke is not fighting in Iraq, Luke is not rotting in a bed at Walter Reed. If indeed Tim was concerned about the security of the free world, I would think his son would jump at a chamce to do his part. I have to think Tim and his circle knew more about the dishonesty of Bush than they let on. If he did, and remained the primary mouthpiece, I find it unforgivable.
