Help, I have been completely cut off from the world for a week. |
|
I have been in a cabin for a week with no access to news. It has been wonderful, but I need to know what has been happening. I do know about the flooding due to seeing a lot on our trip back from MN to NE, but an overview of everything else would be greatly appreciated. I can listen to the news, but need the word from DU. THANKS!

22. "russert "great journalist"" returns 4530 hits on Google news |
|
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=MaK&q=russert+%22great+journalist%22&btnG=SearchI've also learned that on DU it's unacceptable to call a spade a spade if it suddenly and unexpectedly falls into a ditch. But enough of this grieving and teeth gnashing. I'm going out DANCING tonight. :eyes:

24. The canonical response is "Google it". :D |
|
I've been one of those saying I was sorry to see him arrive and not sorry to see him go. If that sounds rough to some people, hey, I hand out grades for a living. If someone **earns** an 'F', he gets it. The only thing I'm sorry about is that he didn't spend his life more honorably, but that was his choice.

and it's getting way worse in some places. BTW, welcome back! Lucky soul to be away for a whole week with no news - I'm ready for a "news sabbatical"! Here's an article among many about it from LA Times today: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/politics/la-na-flood14-2008jun14,0,1149918.storyAnd one of the later posts with news here in DU: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=3352686

11. Kucinich did 35 articles of impeachment of bush, sent to judiciary committee, IA is flooded. |
|
4 boy scouts at a boy scout camp got to practice emergency responses when a tornado hit them and killed 4. Issue of the day varies. IA is flooding. FEMA is somewhere. McCain's website took away ability to comment on its products after people found the ability to do so was fun. Kucinich introduced 35 articles of impeachment for mrbush, repubs needed it read to them a second time the next day before the vote was to send to judiciary committee. SCOTUS said Gitmo prisoners had habeas corpus thingie, again are able to have cases heard by judge and either be returned somewhere, or somewhere else, or charged. mrbush disagreed.
IA is flooding. Crops doing poorly, transportation blocked. Gas costs more.
