So, everyone solemnly believes that the Bush administration is full of shit and lies. |

Then I ask you: Why does anyone believe the claim that Osama Bin Laden did 9/11 ?
This is not a "conspiracy theory" thread. I don't want to debate wether 9/11 was an inside job or wether the government was actually covering up some even more sinister shit.
My only question is: Why do people believe this particular claim, when they are willing to dismiss loads of other things the administration says as lies (Saddam's WMDs for instance)?
Was there ever any evidence disclosed on the subject?
I am interested to hear what makes people so selective of what they do and what they don't believe out of the things this administration spreads.

2. easy: I don't believe him |

I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth, because every single thing I've heard him speak is lie. Even when the truth is innocuous, he still lies just for the hell of it.

3. To the best of my knowledge, the republicons have never produced a scrap of evidence |
|
about Osama bin Laden having masterminded 9/11. If they have, I'd like to see it, too.

4. Nobody believes the cover story |

People just degree on which parts of it might be true and which are totally fabricated.

...is a painful pill to swallow, and many people simply aren't ready -- some never will be. Classic denial.

6. I don't, necessarily. I remember the name "Al Queda" being mentioned |
|

the next day and thought, "how would they know that so quickly?" Terrorist groups usually openly claim responsibility as a way to send a message - that's why they commit the act of terrorism in the first place - publicity and as a negotiating tool.
And Queda never has, and has gained NOTHING from the act (well, recruitment's way up, but that's because of Bush - not Osama). They've cheered it on, but - correct me if I'm wrong - never claimed responsibility.

10. Didn't they find one of the "terrorist's" passports on the sidewalk below the twin towers? |

That was always hard for me to believe. I think they found it that very afternoon.

We must NEVER allow two psychopaths to occupy the WH again; their destruction of our nation is likely to be irreversible. I don't believe ANYTHING they have claimed about EVERYTHING!

8. Many Of The Things We've Suspected All Along Here At DU And Posted About...... |
|
throughout the *Co terms has so-far proven to be true. They told us one thing - we suspected another - and now we're finding out we were right. This is info coming from within the WH - Scotty's book. Also - reports coming from our government - like the one that Jay Rockefeller told us about a week or so ago.
I keep sitting here and asking - what else is not true that they told us?
I would guess the 9/11 story is right up there with that question.

9. A question I regularly pose as well |
|
Most Americans completely accept conspiracies from years past (e.g., JFK), but when faced with CURRENT conspiracy possibilities, they seem to have a mental block.
My quite Republican-leaning, even Bush-supporting family members (ugh) are open to the possibility that Bin Laden is actually working with the US. When it comes to 9/11, however, they say it's too painful to even imagine such a horror could have been planned by our own government.
