My ass no one protests the Iraq War |
|
tell that to the 30 something mostly middle-aged to elderly people standing at a busy street corner in the 100 degree heat here in California's very conservative central valley holding signs saying "Honk for Peace."
the MSM tries so hard to push this crap that no one is protesting. That is a gigantic lie. My friends living in the bay area are constantly telling me about anti-war protests, I see protests in my own part of the state which is conservative. and you know, it's not just a bunch of young, unbathed stoner hippies out there in the streets. It's a lot of boomer-aged professionals, the elderly, a wide representation of America.
My feeling is that street protests mean less and the population gets larger, not to mention the protests going on in major cities have taken on a little too much of a party atmosphere.
To me, the most effective means of protest against the war if you live in a very blue state is to drive a couple hours to that Swing state next door and beat the pavement hard for Obama's voter registration drive, because protests are symbolic and do little to convince anyone of anything other than there's a lot of rowdy people in the major cities looking for an excuse to start a ruckus, voter registration is a much more effective way to push back not just against the war, but Repug BS in general. Hit them where it hurts.

2. In general, the corporate news outlets don't report much on anti-war demonstrations. nt |
