Anyone else been having trouble with Firefox v2.0.0.14 lately (OCSP - Server Errors)??? |
|
Edited on Sun Jun-15-08 06:05 PM by Up2Late
I'm not sure when they started, a few months ago, I think, but they are driving me nuts. So much that I've been using Seamonkey and the new Windows version of Safari more and more.
Sometimes it works O.K., but other times it just stops working for about a minute or so and then pops up a Stop error message that says:
"Error Trying to validate certificate from www.xxxxx.xxx using OCSP - server error"
Anyone else getting these errors or know how to get rid of them?
Btw, note to the wise-guys, www.xxxxx.xxx is not really an address.

1. I'm Using 2.0.0.14, With No Problems At All |

Using it on XP. Using 3.0 beta on Linux. All is well.

3. Do you know if OCSP is an option that can be turned off? |
|
I get the feeling that if I could go back to using Firefox without using OCSP this would go away.

Go to 'Tools-Options-Advanced-Encryption-Verification' and select 'Do not use OCSP for certificate validation'

8. O.K. thanks, I just did that... |
|
...now I'll see what happens.
Is it bad to turn it all the way off? (should I pick the middle radio button?)

16. I'm not sure if it's a bad idea..it should be disabled by default in FF 2 |
|
And it looks like the error messages won't be seen if you upgrade to 3.0. I haven't yet because the theme I like isn't compatible (yet). http://kb.mozillazine.org/OCSP_error_when_accessing_secure_sites

|
...thanks for the help. I've been looking for that switch for a while now, but could never find it.

7. I have been getting a lot of "FF encountered an error must restart" |
|
then "click to send this error message" which I generally do then it shuts down...and occasionally, not often, Firefox just goes extinct. No message, no warning, no nothing...it just quits dead. But I can always restart it right away. Oh, which version, let me check =============== okay it's 2.0.0.14 I think it's the latest. Strange doins.

12. I just let the automatic update do its thing, there was one a couple days ago as I recall |
|
I just install them when they tell me to...I'm pretty much of a milquetoast when it comes to this stuff. ;-)

FireFox 3 is faster and has fewer bugs...Nobody has any reason to not being using the RC.
