Poll question: What would happen if Iran announced they already had nuke weapons--from Russia or China?
Russia or China may consider blocking an invasion of Iran

Would that make the Bushies and DC establishment more likely to attack or would they be forced to shut up and calm the fuck down?

1. I'd say they'd most likely work with Europe to continue/expand sanctions on Iran for
violating the NPT, demand Iran dismantle its nuclear weapons and program (as we are with North Korea), and debate punitive measures against China or Russia (with little end result).

4. Sure. South Africa, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine all
once possessed nuclear weapons, and all succumbed to diplomatic pressure to disarm.

2. A good question...
...but how insane it does seem in some ways to think about the idea that introducing nuke capability to Iran, and making it both public and verifiable, could actually, at least in the near term, have a stabilizing effect on the region.

I think a better way to stabilize the region would be to replace the insane and power mad leadership of the U.S. and Israel with sane and decent human beings -- but that's easier said than done, I know.
