I am going to bang my head against the wall. There is just non-stop golf coverage here in GD, and all over DU! And it's been playing for four days straight on TV, especially on NBC! WTF!?!?!?

I mean people are dying in Iowa and all over the mid-west, and nobody cares. There have been earthquakes, and a Supreme Court ruling on the detainees at Guantanamo, and the Shrub is in France and not at home at a time of disaster where he should be.

But no, it's just golf, golf, golf, golf, and more golf! :banghead:

I don't remember that one. I am not a big golf fan. We were watching the US Open at work and I did happen to get caught up in it even though I am not a huge golf or Tiger fan. I love sports but I never really got into golf.

Now, if there was a way to divert that extra water they're inundated with in the midwest to feed the golfing monster then that would be awesome, but reality is what it is. There are drought conditions, water shortages, states fighting states over water and yet we continue to remain blind to the fact that the watering of golf courses is a total waste of resources.

I've been playing golf for 20 years, played dozens of different courses, and have NEVER seen an ENTIRE course being watered...EVER. At most, golf courses water their greens down every day...but NOT the fairways. And the courses I play locally ALL catch their water via rainfall and store it in reserve ponds.

Sorry, I was in a pissy mood last night so certainly came across as a crank. and no, i know nothing about the game. But I do know that many regions of the country are dealing with water shortages, so I took my anger over that on something that many people (myself included) consider a waste of that precious resource.
