Stone of Destiny is fake, claims Alex Salmond
By Auslan Cramb, Scottish Correspondent, Telegraph
16/06/2008
Alex Salmond dropped a cultural bombshell yesterday when he claimed that the Stone of Destiny, one of Scotland's most famous relics, was a medieval fake.

Scottish, English and British monarchs have been crowned on the ancient coronation stone since the ninth century.

It spent 700 years under the chair in Westminster Abbey after it was seized in 1296 by King Edward I, and was finally returned to Scotland 12 years ago.

It has since been viewed at Edinburgh Castle by tens of thousands of people, and is regarded as a symbol of Scottish independence.

According to legend, Jacob used the ancient stone as a pillow when he dreamt of a ladder to heaven.

Yep, the cleaners just left it gathering dust in Westminster Abbey...Maybe somebody told them it was just a lump of concrete left by lazy builders.

3. Tea leaves are out. Monsanto has introduced Genetically Modified tea
When Monsanto spliced the Genes, it upset the universal resonance of the tea.

Tea leaf reading these days is just garbage.

5. That would explain why my tea leaves said I would have a c-section.

8. So now we may have 3 different fake stones
#1: Scottish kings claim this lump of stone they found lying around actually comes from the Middle East about 3000 years earlier
#2: Scottish abbot substitutes another one for the English to steal, and then loses the earlier fake (so they don't crown Robert the Bruce on that one either)
#3: Scottish nationalists steal the second fake, and make a third fake to go back to Westminster, which then goes back to Edinburgh, and they keep the second fake somewhere.

10. Stone of Destiny similar scam to the black Stone of the Kabaa, Mecca's
most superstitious relic.

"The Ka'ba houses the mysterious Black Stone, which was revered in Mecca in pre-Islamic times as well. It became a Muslim relic in the time of the Prophet Muhammad and pilgrims to Mecca try to stop and kiss it while circumambulating the Ka'ba during the hajj.

................

During the conflict between Ibn Zubayr of Mecca and the Umayyad Caliph Mu'awiyah, the Ka'ba was set on fire and the Black Stone broke into three pieces. Its parts were reassembled with silver by Ibn Zubayr, who also ordered the rebuilding of the Ka'ba in stone and in accordance with the original dimensions believed to be set by Abraham, and paved the open space around it. The shrine at this time had two doors and a wooden staircase for roof access."

Just an old lump of coal, then...
