5. there are tornadoes in all states
In NY state, they have hit everywhere, but I believe they are a little more common over near Lake Erie and Ontario

6. Small one around 2 years ago
hit Armonk, NY (Westchester County) - passed the site yesterday and the damage to the landscape is still very visible.

7. We had a tornado watch here in Eastern NY last week and the weather guy said it was very unusual.
We ended up with teeming rain and hail instead. Yesterday we had rain and thunder and today's supposed to be much the same. The whole week doesn't look all that good, but at least we're more fortunate than the midwest... *knock on wood* x(
