I'll end the misery.
I love ya sweetie but a little tired of everybody complaining about Tim Russert. Change the channel. Read a book. Run a marathon. Cook me dinner. Buy a car. Go to Iowa and help the flood victims. Go to China and help the earthquake victims. There are a lot more productive things we all could be doing than complaining about Tim Russert. NBC is honoring one of their own. It happens. It will again.

13. If KO can do a segment on American Idol once a week, |
|
then I have no problem with a second Countdown segment on Russert. Russert wasn't the prime story, KO didn't drag it out or let it interfere with extremely long lead-in to the Gore endorsement of Obama. I would vastly prefer one Russert segment a week to the annoying American Idol princess and her gushing review of that dreck.

18. Jeepers. Just change the channel already |
|
To read the posts here complaining about it you'd think people had TVs from North Korea that could only pick up NBC. So it's excessive. So what? Read a book, watch a DVD, do something else. What's happening here is that a bunch of news junkies are getting their regular feed interrupted and having a temper tantrum over it. Like I said, just change the damn channel and stop complaining about it.

Most everyone on TV news, including Keith Olbermann, is a good-looking jackass. TV news is like cheap candy - it doesn't really taste good and it's bad for you, but some people get addicted to the additives. Now would be a great time to overcome your dependency and switch to a more nutritious informational diet.

47. I have to admit I hadn't heard about |
|
Bert Convy's 1991 passing until I looked it up just now.
Seriously, though, Jim McKay who was an integral part of ABC sports, and especially known for covering the Olympics, got no more than a passing mention when he died a couple of weeks ago. Given America's interest in sports, you'd have thought his demise would have generated a bit more buzz.
This Russert coverage is extremely out of proportion. Given most people's lack of interest in politics, I doubt the majority could even identify Russert if shown a picture. The complete lack of restraint in covering this has been appalling.

50. Jim McKay contributed more to TV journalism in 16 long hours... |
|
in 1972 than Tim Russert did in a lifetime. McKay actually started his long, distinguished career as a crime reporter for a metropolitan newspaper. When it came to instant recall of detailed facts and figures, no one beat Jim McKay. He could give you all the boring details of an event, no matter what it was, and keep it interesting. In that sense, he was a true journalist.
I am not kidding when I say that Bert Convy deserved as much, or more, of a memorial than Tim Russert.

I was surprised to see that also. Although Luke seems like a wonderful kid. The channel has had days of coverage of the Russert passing and KO decides we need some more? How about using some national and international news, like even footage of protests of Bush's visit to the UK?

45. Why are you people continuing to watch this shit? |
|
I find it vastly amusing, and a bit puzzling, to log onto here and find people in an ongoing flame-fest against NBC and the MSM for their over the top coverage of Russert's death. If you change the channel, or better yet, turn the TV off, you won't have to worry about what is being broadcast. But nooooo, many folks continue to feed into the madness, watching the tube while simultaneously complaining about the massive Russert coverage. Don't feed the beast! All you're doing is continuing to send positive feedback to NBC and the rest of the MSM TV media that this 24/7 coverage is actually being watched, and therefore all is good.
Don't feed the beast, turn the damn thing off.
