An old manager who played more than 30 years ago,was part of a baseball documentary.He said, one reason they used to do it because no one trusted players to wash their hands after using the bathroom. In the documentary, they had old film showing players fist bumping.

Olbermann or someone not long ago had footage of the elder Bush doing the fist bump with someone years ago, it's been around about forever. We had variations of it when I was a kid in the 70s.
