how glad I am that I pay no attention to the corporate media news. At all. If not for DU, I wouldn't have the faintest idea who Tim Russert was or that he died. Well, at least not until this morning when, upon arriving at work, a local radio show was discussing it.
That's not to say I don't watch TV. I have several shows I follow, but I usually DVR them, which allows me to ignore the stuff I don't want to watch, and fast forward through all the "buy OUR crap" ads that impede enjoyment of the programs in which I'm actually interested.
I don't miss the corporate television media news. Every so often I catch a blip or two in the breakroom at work, which nearly always elicits a sardonic observation from me loud enough for my co-workers to hear. It usually goes something like this. "Ah, I see they're lying again. Here's the truth of the blah blah blah situation."
We're left with very little recourse in dealing with these creeps other than just ignoring them when we can, and doing what we can to counter their bullshit when the opportunity presents itself. If their lips are moving, they're probably lying. Okay. Thus, the droning of the mindless nitwits mean nothing to me in general, and I do my best to let others know not only that I feel that way, but WHY I feel that way. After harping on the subject for the past few years, even my generally clueless stepmother is well aware of the situation.
The television news media is a circle jerk of monumental proportions. Watch only if you have a sick tendency toward voyeurism and enjoy trying to digest overt lies and covert misinformation. Or want to know what the ENEMY is up to. Me, I know what they're up to.
Of course K.O. is excluded from this, though I can't say I watch him either. When he does a special commentary I usually check it out via youtube or what have you, but to watch him on a regular basis would require me to turn it to one of those damned channels I'd sooner avoid as if they were plague carriers.
Which, when you get right down to it, they are.
