on the Gay Marriage decision. Today was a day of celebration, tomorrow is a day for ACTION. 10 out of the 11 states have Republican AGs, so our efforts will be ignored by them, however the 11th state AG, Democratic AG Jay Nixon of Missouri, on the other hand, we may be able to influence, I don't know what motivated him to actually put forwards such a homophobic request as he did, but it doesn't matter either, he was wrong, and I urge every DU member, and especially those in Missouri, to contact his office and campaign website and let him know clearly your feelings on this matter.

If you don't know what I'm referring to, here's a link:

Now here are some links to Jay Nixon's AG office and email along with campaign link, he's running for governor.

The battle for marriage equality is being won, slowly but surely, but it isn't over yet.

1. Watch the Republicans dump the "states' rights" argument in favor of increasing "federal power" here
They only push states' rights when it comes to their own pet issues, but when it comes to fair play, they want to change the goalposts constantly.

2. Thanks.
I will do that. As a neighbor in Kansas I am proud my state did not join in this group. I will write and mention that as well.

Did you post this in the Missouri forum?

3. I'll do that....
This is the e-mail I sent to the AG's office:

With the California Supreme court ignoring the requests by all 11 state, including Missouri, I must question the decision you made to write the letter you did in the first place. Was it just politics, caving to pressure, or is it just bigotry? Your letter concerning the legal ramifications and lawsuits that can result have merit, however, unlike you, I believe that such issues should be challenged in the courts. This needs to happens so that, similarly to how Loving vs. Virginia and related suits struck down anti-miscegenation laws nationwide, anti-equal marriage laws and amendments can be struck down as well, including Missouri's own amendment.

This is something I look forward to, and regardless of the motivations you had to write that letter, it was wrong. As a straight Missourian concerned about equal rights, I'm disturbed by this move on you part.
