I'm guessing some DU'ers didn't like Keith's "Worst Persons" tonight
After all, he slammed FAUX News for choosing today to tab Tim Russert as a part of the the liberal media......

But seeing as some here have been doing the same thing except saying Russ was part and parcel of the reich-wing media since about two hours after he died on Friday, well maybe KO's shot hit close to their dock as well......

Just sayin'........

1. There's a difference between a news network and an anonymous internet forum
If someone wants to pay me a million+ to say stupid shit into a camera, I'll be nice to Russert, too.

6. Well, why don't you try to explain it to me?
Are you saying Keith only said what he said because he's paid to do so? Does that also mean his emotional reactions on Friday night were phony and contrived, like several right wingers claimed, and that he secretly hated Russert because he was a block to his rising up the ranks?

I mean, I'm sure it's possible that after exposing Bush, Cheney, Rummy and Condi as he has for the last several years, that the right-wing honchos at GE finally put their foot down and demanded he pay homage to Russert, but why do I think he may have been sincere?

4. Of course! It's perfectly allright to be an asshole anonymously.
That way a person doesn't have to actually take any personal responsibility for whatever they say.

Like in the movie "Untraceable". Millions of Internet users got to actually participate in committing a murder, but could do it anonymously, without accepting any personal responsibility, so it was O.K.

3. KO enjoys toying with the Fixed Noise Network
Especially Fox&Friends. The Colbert Show (or might have been Daily Show) also vilified Steve Doocey last night.

7. Keith worked with the man...
and Tim was well liked by his co-workers.

What would you expect? Keith to come on and tell us that Tim was too conservative? Or too liberal?

Jeez... everyone get a grip. The guy dies suddenly and in the office at work... he was well liked (whatever his faults were). And his co-workers and friends are singing his praises and defending him like a lost puppy. What the hell do you expect?

A week from now this will have receded for the most part and the only question will be who takes over for Tim. Let them grieve for their friend for now. Even if it's on the airwaves.

My only hope is that when it's my time, I have my "Keith Olbermans" to tell everyone what a hell of a guy I *WAS* and for at least a week or so. After that, I will be mostly forgotten by all but a few relatives.

10. "even if it's on the airwaves." OUR airwaves, not theirs. OURS.
And there is a flood in the Midwest they have barely noticed.

11. Or a jail breakout in Kandahar
or an offensive in Southern Aghanistan

Forgot the US troops killed over there.

Did I mention the quake in Japan, and the floods in China?

Oh wait, a great newsman died and we should act our age :sarcasm:

21. It was a figure of speech...
MSNBC is, of course, not on the public airwaves.

And they have covered a little of the two stories mentioned here... not enough, but a little.

13. You are confusing criticism for enabling war.... or criticism for
essentially canceling the news with hate

Once you figure out what wasn't covered over the weekend by the so called mainstream media, and how that DIRECTLY will affect your life
you may finally get it.

Until then... I leave you with this disturbing thought...

The day before Russ died in the office, four US Marines died in Afghanistan... last time I heard nobody stopped working

Oh and over the weekend, we think, twenty people have died in the midwest...

Tell me, why is it that none of those people is getting an orgy at the PUBLIC"S Airwaves?

Once you figure that out, come back to us and scold us for our manners.

Or perhaps, you like having a middle finger salute... which is exactly what the chattering classes gave you over the weekend

14. One hazard of having 150,000 members
Edited on Tue Jun-17-08 03:52 AM by DeltaLitProf
Imagine hosting a concert event with 150k people. Many of them will be lunatics. Several will be troublemaking thugs who hope to sabotage the event. Their numbers will be small as a percentage, but you're going to hear them sometimes. And the ability of these lunatics to create their own original posts gives them the ability to hold a sign up to anyone coming through that says, "HEY LOOK!"

We just have to make sure it's clear that the DUers who want to disgrace our site by stomping on a barely cooling corpse of a mostly decent man are NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF US.

My choice is not to contribute to the numbers and to the on fire of those threads that are obviously by these counterproductive loons.

16. "Mostly decent" people do not cheerlead totally unnecessary wars.
Russert may have been an OK guy personally, but his professional behavior greatly enabled a totally unnecessary war which has killed hundreds of thousands and left millions as refugees, decent people do not do such a thing.

19. I agree with the OP.
Keith's WPITW could just as well have been awarded to a lot of asshats right here on DU.

Now I'll depart the thread, while you all jump on and attempt to justify your behavior as you just did above.

I won't be reading.
