Dan Boren D-OK calls Obama "“the most liberal senator in the U.S. Senate.”
He also will not officially endorse Obama though he'll vote for him at the DNC and vote Dem in November. Well gosh thanks Dan.

Since when do Dems get their "facts" from Fox News?

1. Whenever I hear "I won't vote for the most liberal senator"
I reply: "Feingold isn't running for president."

8. LOL
Of course it's patently false but once again it gets repeated in the national news and hence gets cemented into little brains as The Truth.

21. Show them the list of votes that National Journal used instead

Can yew buleeve that librul scum bucket voted to require more rest time for soldiers who serve overseas and limit their deployments to 12 months? Or trying to prevent dumping of Mexican goods into the US market by limiting trucks here, or expanding SCHIP, end the war in Iraq, or let medicare negotiate drug prices, or block people from working for the FDA if there is a conflict of interest? These librul issues only have like 60-80% of hte public behind them.

If people actually dig deeper and examine 'why' Obama is the most liberal senator in an effort to paint him as an extremist, they will find a list of votes that are very mainstream. I still cannot figure out why Obama or other dems don't retort with that fact. Since when did giving kids healthcare via SCHIP, ending the war in Iraq and preserving the minimum wage become extremist issues?

And it wasn't even from me! Blue Dogs better get in step with the Democrats who elected them, or they will find themselves out on their blue asses.

4. I wish Obama was the most liberal. "Liberal" has been liberated from being libelous
to being laudatory.

The "conservatives" have completely defiled the whole concept of conservatism for many years. Now "conservative" is a synonym for "criminal." So "liberal" is undergoing a renaissance.

6. If he just gave a simple No when asked if he's endorsing Obama,
...then fine.

But when he promotes right-wing bullshit, Dan Boren goes too far.

Make of his rationale what you will. God, I miss the days when our entire Congressional delegation was Democratic! This guy, our only "Democrat," is just an Okie Lieberman.

Dan Boren should know better.

Yea I remember the old days. The Edmonson's, Nigh's, Bellmon, Raymond Gary, Fred Harris, Carl Albert. Some not the most progressive Dems but Dems nonetheless.

13. Well A) It's not true
and 2) it's spreading a RW Talking Point. Hey I'm of proud of being a liberal (as I'm sure you are) but to some, especially in his district, the term "liberal" is almost on the same level as a racial slur.

What gets me is that on one hand he's saying that we need a Democrat in the White House and that he's proud the Democratic Party will be the first to nominate a black man for President then immediately says that he's not that enthused with the candidate.

Hey at least he's a Dem from Oklahoma. I doubt that we can count on him for close votes on Progressive issues. Thank goodness we'll have a large enough majority in the House next term his vote won't matter much.

but it's par for the course. Any Dem. nominee would have instantly been labeled the most liberal human ever to walk the face of the earth.

16. Well, here's the thing:
Just as the Republicans did their "redistricting magic" in Texas, they saddled the old Oklahoma 3rd District (Carl Albert's old district) with the damned rich Republicans up in Tulsa, thus creating this border-to-border monstrosity.

And apparently young Dan thinks endorsing Obama would be too much for his northern Oklahoma constituents. Who knows? It is still quite a chickenshit stance.

18. Thanks for the local info. It helps.
It's pandering pure and simple. A lot of the people I know in the Tulsa area wouldn't like the idea of their congressman being "for" Obama (or Clinton).

24. Someone ought to ask him to his face
if being the most liberal Congressperson/Senator is some kind of a weekly or monthly achievement award? It seems that on a pretty regular basis some new person is being designated as the "most liberal".

23. But yet today, Boren said he WOULD vote for Obama.
http://newsok.com/dan-boren-says-hell-vote-for-obama/article/3258692/?tm=1213738747Dan Boren says he'll vote for Obama (registration required)>
Saying his previous comments were "misunderstood," U.S. Rep. Dan Boren has issued another statement on his position as a Democratic superdelegate as it pertains to Barack Obama.

"Earlier statements I made about the presidential race have been misunderstood," Boren, D-Okla., said in a news release.

"I thought I was emphasizing I may not agree with Senator Obama on some issues. I want to make it clear I will vote for our designated nominee at the Democratic Convention and in November," the representative said.

It's been really windy in Oklahoma lately--obviously Boren's getting blown around a bit. :sarcasm:

that crap about "the most liberal Senator in the Senate". He wants it both ways. I think he's been getting some feedback from the "liberals" who voted him into Congress. If so, good.
