but I gained 25 pounds in three months
Which for a diabetic is truly BAD news

3. Chantix made me suicidal |

then they put a black box warning on it. It is not something to take unless you are well informed to the side effects. It is still a pretty new drug. My neurologist says she has heard horror stories about it and would not be surprised to see it pulled off the market.

5. I asked my doc about it, and it works by doing something in the |

neurons with seratonin . . . sounds like an antidepressant to me. My doc was pushing me to take it, but BP runs in my family. I asked my sons psychiatrist, and she said I should never, ever risk taking an antidepressant unless I was being watched very, very carefully . . . she said it as if to mean, like under lock up. Scary stuff. My main doc is really concerned about my physical health . . . but I'd rather be dead than suffer as my son has. So anyone else whose doc recommends this stuff, make sure you don't have any bipolar or other mental health genetic possibilities, and if you do, ask a psychiatrist first . . . they are the ones who really understand how these meds work . . . as well as anyone really understands how they work (which is to say they don't know much).

7. Ditto. A pack-a-day--plus for 40 years, but none since September w/ Chantix. |
|
IMHO, Chantix rivals Viagra as a life-changing wonder drug. I've had no side effects, even though I've taken two anti-depressants daily for years and years. (IOW, no depression or suicidal thoughts for me, Thankee Lord.)

8. It is an amazing drug. Like all pharmaceuticals, the patient needs to be carefully watched. |
|
But it saves lives.
BTW, congrats on quitting!
