Denver Under siege
Source: Rocky Mountain news

The exercise by special ops troops, supported by Denver police SWAT teams and firefighters, is intended to prepare for any terrorism threat in a "realistic urban environment," said Lt. Steve Ruh, a spokesman for the U.S. Special Operations Command, headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.

Should there ever be an emergency here that would require federal assistance, they will be familiar with our City and how best to navigate it."

Just getting everyone used to the sound of military hardware. We had a Blackhawk visit our town last month for Vets day. Landed @ the Armory.

3. My first thought as well
And I don't care if I sound like a paranoid "loon"--after the way this government reacted during Katrina, as though everyone on the streets were out to wreak havoc instead of merely survive, it's quite obvious to me that they see the average American citizen as the Enemy to be controlled or, if necessary, destroyed.

12. Not the attendees. It's meant for a war on the protestors.
They'll probably need the real muscle power for New Orleans, where the anger is not being allowed to be channelled thru hope.

As it stands now, I don't think Denver is gonna be a big protest so much as a group hug with placards.

14. Well, then it's up to the protest community to eyeball for trouble makers.
I just don't see the issues on which trouble can be stirred up. Unlike 2004, the people inside the hall will be in basic agreement with most people outside the hall making noise.

8. They don't do REAL emergencies
Just like real terror. Only fabricated and make-believe situations will do.
