I found
this amazing list of private US military services providers by accident the other day and I was blown away.
I assumed there were maybe 10 or 15 US companies in this business. So much for that fiction. I'm not obsessive enough to actually count them, but there must be a hundred or more.
And they're making money off anything even remotely war-related. They'll rent you everything for the modern privatized war machine -- from a company of mercenaries, a few covert ops specialists, some spooks, tech support and logistics, truck drivers and heavy equipment operators, surveyors, administrative staffers, food prep specialists (can't really call them cooks) and so on down the list.
These services are provided at significant cost by corporate employees; they used to be delivered by troops for a lot less money. But that wouldn't allow for the proper level of war profiteering, so that's "off the table," as a certain particularly obnoxious obstructionist collaborator -- AKA, Bushie's wholly owned subsidiary and personal get out of jail free card -- might put it. Goddamn I absolutely can't stand that enabling fool. But moving on...
Here's a blurb about Triple Canopy (the link brings up a "404 site not found" message, but I can still poke around on the site):
Triple Canopy is an "eclectic group of individuals from a dizzying array of backgrounds. From bankers to Green Berets, from technologists to management consultants, the one thing in common is that coveted combination of ability, character and intelligence. At Triple Canopy, we are our people, and we are the best," says their
webpage.
Here's something about BH Defense, LLC:
BH Defense LLC is a joint venture created by Projection Strategies, Inc. and Orion Management LLC "for the sole purpose of providing total security solutions in difficult environments. Excellent management, superior planning and diligent execution places BH Defense on the front line of the emerging business of private military corporations."
BH delivers a wide range of services to the Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Coalition Provisional Authority, US Coast Guard, U.S. Army, US Army Corps of Engineers, Diplomat Freight Services, Johnson Controls, Inc., and Tyco/ADT Government Services.
Unfortunately, details on all these wonderful services are not currently available. Their site's home page says: "Our Site is Undergoing Major Renovations. Check Back Soon!"
Actually, it's kind of amazing how many of these sites are undergoing major renovations, or you just get the old "404" obituary notice. I'm sure it's just coincidental and they'll all be back shortly, bigger and badder than ever. Or not...
