Iowa's Sen. Grassley (R) has advice for * on his planned Iowa flood visit
:eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

Washington, D.C. – Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa says he has one main piece of wisdom for President Bush when he pays a call Thursday on saturated Iowa.

“My advice to him is don’t say, “You’re doing a good job, Brownie,'" the Iowa Republican said today, recalling the president’s too-soon praise for FEMA Administrator Michael Brown during the Hurricane Katrina disaster of 2005. Brown and the administration later came under intense criticism for a slow and inadequate response to the hurricane and Brown was relieved of his duties in the region.

Grassley, appearing on the C-SPAN cable network call-in show “Washington Journal,” said that his point is that federal officials shouldn’t congratulate themselves before results are known.

Note to DU : I apologize on behalf of the entire state of Iowa in advance, for the comments of a few racist chucklenuts at the end of the story!

2. What do you know?
Lawnmower Man is occasionally on target.

* and his flunkies were blatant in turning their back on NOLA. They have learned to be more subtle and sneaky ways to ignore flooded states that fly under the radar of media scrutiny (such as it is), where we are losing large portions of an entire state, rural and urban.

I can tell you how insulted I was to hear * lecture us on compassion and loving our neighbors while we hear that the Red Cross, the designated handler of relief funds, has issued a statement saying that they have run out of money for this southward travelling disaster.

5. Notice how Grassley has an excuse for not being part
of the photo-op...he's not even up for re-election this year, and still doesn't want to be tainted by *'s toxicity!

I can't recall if it was you or Condem that brought up the story of all of the hotel rooms that were reserved for FEMA several days ago, and not one FEMA person has checked in yet! Rooms that could have gone to those displaced by the floods...

Stay away. We don't need you. Fuck you and your photo ops.
Too bad he won't take my advice instead. And the dumb so and so' who commented at the end of the article are in no way typical of all Iowans.

8. "shouldn’t congratulate themselves before results are known"
They have to be told that!?

This would be so funny if it wasn't so damn sad.

9. I love Grassley's final comments in the article .......
"Grassley said he likely won’t travel the state with Bush because he thinks he can do more good by staying in Washington to work on federal assistance for Iowans and tax changes through the Senate Finance Committee that could be helpful for flood victims.

“It depends on whether I can do more good for Iowans here or being out there for a photo op with the president,” said Grassley."

10. The low-key sarcasm in that statement is absolutely brilliant....
“It depends on whether I can do more good for Iowans here or being out there for a photo op with the president,” said Grassley."

It's actually a question that answers itself, i.e. "HOW can I do more good for Iowans..."
