1/3 of Taser Victims Require Medical Attention
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/cbc/080617/canada/canada_taser_injuries
About one in three people shot with a Taser by the RCMP receive injuries that require medical attention, according to a joint investigation by CBC News/Radio-Canada and the Canadian Press.

The media outlets, which analyzed the Taser-use forms RCMP officers are required to fill out if they draw a stun gun, examined reports from 2002 to 2007. According to the data, 28 per cent, or 910 of the 3,226 people who were shot, had to go to a medical facility.

But a detailed examination of the forms revealed that many more people are injured, yet never see a doctor.

In three years worth of reports obtained under Access to Information legislation, people suffered injuries including burns, puncture wounds from the probes, and head wounds from falling. In many cases, however, the person was not taken for medical treatment.

1. "puncture wounds from the probes"

By this criterion, should it be 100%.

2. But 100% of gunshot victims...
require medical attention.

That doesn't excuse or justify excessive Taser use, but a major point of the Taser is to reduce the use of deadly force. Is it doing that or not?

4. Not
Instead of an alternative to deadly force it is commonly used for crowd control.

In fact, it is very rare you hear of someone armed being tasered. Expecially with a gun.

Instead, people are getting tased for refusing to obey police officer's orders.

And that should be illegal.

5. If you worked in an ER you would see less
spiral fractures, broken bones in the face, teeth smashed, and dog bites.

Tazer is better than the alternative. Contrary to popular belief it is illegal NOT to comply with the police. They do not have the option not to enforce the law. Below lethal force came a physical fight.

6. got any facts
to support all these things you keep saying?

Considering there are more than a few fatalities from this invention I have to question the sanity of anyone who thinks they should be subjected to this just for not doing what a cop says.

7. Wife worked er for years
no linkable facts just observation. I can tell you that you are required to follow a lawful order from the police. Such as place you hands behind you back..

Failure to do so enhances you chance of being tazed or maced. Doing something like running or reaching to your waist enhances your chance of being bitten by a dog or shot dead.

This is not a free for all, you have to do what they say. They do not have the choice to allow certain people to walk off.

I've been arrested, not fun, but uneventful. However I was not a prick about it.
