17. Feet are more protected due to the shoes than the rest of the body.

We've actually just had a recent case where a shoe containing human remains was discovered in the lake last fall and it's mate was just found in May. The remainder of the body is still missing.

14. If I were a betting man (and I had any takers), I'd put money on drugs being involved.

Drug runners have been known to employ grisly & bizarre methods in how they murder their competitors and other enemies. I don't know how Pacific currents run, but a slashed up boat full of butchered murder victims could easily yield up parts in a pattern like this. The article didn't say whether the feet had all been dated to the same time of death.

I assume this will show up as a plot on Law & Order next season, and then I'll get my answers.

The story I read yesterday was that all the feet were right feet, meaning at least five people were dead. It's similar to that serial killer some years ago who had a foot fetish he took all the way. He would steal shoes, or something, then started killing women and cutting off their feet to keep so that he could try the shoes on these decomposing feet. How sick is that. I can't remember his name though.

We've only had two disembodied feet recovered here in the past six months. One in November of last year the other just last month. As it turns out the shoes match and they're believed to be from the same body. Possibly that of a teenage boy who drowned in our flooding last year but his body was never recovered.
