Got bumper stickers? Then you likely got road rage.
http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=93975&catid=188

William Szlemko, a Ph.D. student at CSU, authored a road rage study that was published in this month's Journal of Applied Social Psychology.

The study is essentially a bumper bummer.

It concludes that those who personalize their vehicles – be it with a bumper sticker or flashy rims – have the tendency to consider their vehicle territory that needs protection.

"When they feel someone is threatening or invading that territory, they're more likely to respond with aggression to defend that territory," Szlemko said.

He adds people with personalized vehicles are 15 percent more likely to succumb to road rage.

1. "Mean people produce little mean people"
It's been on my car for the last 6yrs.

Kind of difficult to live up to sometimes - we don't flip the bird when someone is a real jerk- we give the hand sign for "I love you" - fake it till you make it kind of thinking- and it really does work.

peace~

4. I love it!!
My car was keyed a few years ago because of a "W Stands for Wrong" magnet I have on my car... I haven't had anything on it since, but just purchased an Obama magnet. Hopefully this magnet brings me better luck! :)

11. I wish I could do my vehicle like that.....
but, in the southern most part of Bama, it wouldnt last a week before it got trashed by a republicant idiot here. And I am not rich enough to risk it.

5. Insignificant by his own numbers.
"...people with personalized vehicles are 15 percent more likely to succumb to road rage."

15%? That's all? That's "news" ??

I'd have expected it to be considerably higher just on the basis that people who use bumper stickers seem likely to be more outspoken and emotive in general.

8. What about the Big, Dangling Balls that hang from the
trailer hitch on the monster trucks??? Is that a road rage or a Look at me kind of thing?...wait a minute-there is a good thing about rising gas prices-one good thing is that you won't see these "manly men" sporting their plastic thingies ad nauseum ANYMORE! Can't afford to use the truck! :bounce:

9. Hmmmm
So I guess my "Impeach Bush," Darwin coelacanth emblem and "God, Protect me from your followers" stickers wouldn't do me any favors if I were driving through the bible belt or Florida, eh? Thankfully, I have no plans to go to either. (Oh yeah, and I still have my "John Kerry, 2004" sticker on there too.)

14. I Have No Bumper Stickers And I'm The Most Aggressive Driver I Know.
Furthermore, if a car's going to slow or seems inexperienced, it's quite common for it to be a car with bumperstickers that I'm about to cut off and they usually don't respond with any aggression. This study is probably meaningless.

18. Funny. I have a bumper sticker (Defend America. Defeat Bush.) and
I am on the RECEIVING end of lots of road, presumably because of it. Plus, I don't drive like Earnhardt.
