I quit watching CBS Evening News the first week Katie was the anchor, and they gave Limbaugh a guest commentator spot.
"Some people say" Katie sucks. They are correct.

the deaths due to the wars, the conversation changed immediately to a more sober one
"The outspoken Logan — who has stated in the past that Americans have no idea how badly the war is going because of the suppression of pictures of American casualties — made no attempt to hide her contempt for American coverage of the Iraq and Afghan Wars."

24. Jon went through quite a reality check when he lost a friend or two on 9/11 |
|
And he is far too intelligent to turn those losses into a rationale for us having carte blanche in Iraq.

9. There is, SERIOUSLY, no need to belittle Tiger Woods on account of our worthless media. |
|
The guy is an outstanding athlete all around and I have nothing but the deepest respect for him and his accomplishments during the US Open on that bad leg. In another time and place, where we weren't involved in an illegal war and responsible for the deaths of countless thousands, while ignoring the plight of our own citizens during a flood, I wouldn't at all begrudge Tiger his top story or front page appearances.
On the other hand, I also feel the same outrage as the rest of us presumably do that thousands of people have just lost everything in floods, their homes up to the ceiling in shit and diesel fuel, and the media couldn't seem to care less.
Tiger Woods does not deserve the condescension shown in this OP simply because the media has chosen to cover his personal tribulations over those of people who are far more deserving of our attention and sympathy. Tiger Woods chose to risk his career for a golf tournament. Cedar City did not choose a 500-year flood.

|
no, he plays an elitest game most often enjoyed by fat rich white guys.
Yes, Tiger Rocks and I love to watch the crackers sringe when a non white beats them at their game, but it it not the most important thing happening today.
not that it matters but

20. Yeah I read the subject. Then I read the post where it mentions Tiger's "widdle knee". |
|
Bullshit.
No, it's not important enough to be a lead story on the evening news with everything else going on, but it's not Tiger's "widdle knee" any more than it would be a DU'ers "widdle" injury if they posted about it here.
Again, I understand being upset with the lack of coverage of the floods, but TIGER DID NOT CHOOSE TO BE THE LEAD NEWS STORY, the MEDIA did!
And you can shove your :eyes: too.

I might add that using the word "widdle" to describe Wood's injury is demeaning, condescending and possibly racist. A racist would certainly use these words. The poster here may simply not be a racist but uses words a racist would embrace. I guess that is fine if a D is beside your name? sarc
If anyone here has experienced the pain of Wood's injury, and could picture yourself playing golf (or for that matter going to the kitchen from your bed to get a beer) with that condition you wouldn't use the word "widdle". "Widdle", apart from racism, is demeaning in that it makes it sound like a little child having a little problem.
OK. I agree it should not be the lead story. But the poster didn't have to be "widdle" about it!

Screw him and his ego.
His comments about the National Hockey League were unnecessary and offensive. Fuck him. He's a golfer, a glorified recreationist. There is no 'athlete' in golf, fat guys, drunk guys, old guys, and yes injured guys can play it. Golf is no different than bowling other than the fact the media has made us believe golf is for 'the better people' and bowling is only done by 'rubes and necks'.
Hockey is my passion and when someone decides to denigrate it using failed attempts at humor based in pure ignorance then I lose all respect for you (not that I had any what with his STOPID 'TW' hats).
Im tired of seeing him.
