History repeats itself. Impeachment is important. |
|
There is a famous saying that goes "Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it." History is very much cyclical unless you are aware of it and heed the lessons it tries to impart.
I would say our story begins in this great land we call America. The tale begins not so long ago when we had a leader that went by the name of Nixon. It actually began before Nixon's election but that is where we will pick up. Nixon had a lot of people around him. Quite a few people directly, or indirectly, involved with the Nixon administration (Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz to name a couple) are currently involved with this administration.
What does the Nixon and Bush administration have in common? Well, for starters, both Presidents committed impeachable offenses and to date they have basically gotten away with it. Yes, Nixon did resign but what other real repercussions happened to him? He certainly did not do time and neither did any of his staff. (yes, I know about people like Liddy but there were no real jail terms when people are rewarded with their own radio show and are elevated to celebrity status)
The same people are still hanging around and working in government and even more shenanigans are going on. The crimes being committed today are much worse than they were in years gone by.
Humans are a funny bunch, not many learn lessons when there are no consequences attached. This is why parents punish young children and why our justice system tries and punishes people when they get older. Consequences are a valuable learning tool. There is no doubt in my mind that our society would run amok without them.
This brings us to the reason why impeachment is so important. Without impeachment we can never move onto the criminal trial phase. If we do not have criminal trials then the players who have moved the puppets, behind the curtains, will still be there. They will also be teaching other younger puppeteers. I have no doubt in my mind that if these people do not go to jail then they will be back to haunt us in the future. They have returned once, what is to stop them from returning in the future and making things even worse for our country? NOTHING!
You are all very intelligent. I heard it said, more than once, that if you do not vote you can not complain. I contend that if you do not try these criminals then you have no right to complain when your country falls apart due to the same people being allowed to commit crimes. There must be consequences to their actions. We must stop them.

2. I am more speaking to the DUer's who feel impeachment |
|
is not important or, at least, should not be done! Once the general population wakes up perhaps we could bombard our representatives with our calls for impeachment.

I agree, they need to be impeached but the Leadership is engaged in a whole CYA operation since thet're complicit
If anything TODAYs vote should have made this crystal

4. I agree they are complicit but I do not think we should ever give up. |
|
If we do not at least try then they will keep going as they always have. It is up to us and if enough people wake up I am convinced they will becone angry and do whatever they have to do to get rid of this government.

6. I know but I have been calling them anyway. |
|
I know I do not make a difference by myself but if we could get enough people interested in calling, perhaps we could jam their lines and they would have to notice us then. If we could do that everyday for a week it is possible that we could change things. Maybe I am just naive.
