Bullard High valedictorian to be deported

Arthur Mkoyan's 4.0 grade-point average has made him a valedictorian at Bullard High School in Fresno and qualified him to enter one of the state's top universities.

But while his classmates look forward to dorm food and college courses this fall, Arthur Mkoyan may not make it.

He is being deported.

Arthur, 17, and his mother have been ordered out of the country. By late June, they may be headed to Armenia.

Arthur hasn't seen Armenia since he was 2, and he doesn't want to return. The thin, rather shy teenager doesn't speak Armenian and barely understands the language when it's spoken to him.

1. We'd have sent Einstein back to Germany if we could have.

2. Worse. We wouldn't have let Einstein into the country in the first place
In the current day atmosphere.

5. Don't let Lady Liberty kick you in the butt on the way out.
There's a sheriff somewhere in Ohio, I think it's Hamilton, suing the federal government because they won't make any effort to deport the illegals in his jail that were convicted of violent crimes. Those folks we keep, hard working decent people who raised an honor student we kick out.

Sick.

9. I know a couple kids like this
One is being deported as I type this. Honor student.

The other can't get into college (no more Dream Act) and is working fast food. #1 in her class. Very very bright.

11. The three of us who were Latino kids in the Sunnyvale white high school
were treated like this just without the deportation. When I went back to get my transcript to send to Cal, they couldn't find it. They literally expected all three of us to make shakes at the Dairy Belle across the street and shut up already.

What a trip.

lol

4. Hopefully someone with some influence will step in
There are many many Armenians around these parts. Some are very active and prominent in business, farming, and local politics. They were some of the earliest grape growers here in the valley and many families have been farming the same land for almost 100 years.

It would be a travesty for this kid to be deported. But wow did you read the responses to that article. I guess we have some real assholes living round here.

7. Grew up in Fresno, Bullard was one of the top high schools
And, jeeze, UC Davis is awesome. But I guess we have to send these Armenian valedictorian terrorists back where they came from.

8. My friend Nayim used to get an annual deportation threat letter
We all laughed about it and our friend Tricia would ask her Daddy (the city attorney) to go to kansas City with Nayim and "fix" his papers.. Ahhh for the innocent times to be back.. We would all go to the Pizza Hut and drink lots of beer to celebrate Nayim's renewed visa..

He was from Yemen.. and I guess he was Islamic.. we never asked or cared.. he was just our "Goofy Arab Buddy".. The guys all called him Sheik..and all the girls wanted to date him.. he looked like Omar Sharif ( the 19 yr old version ) :loveya:

10. I hung out with a bunch of Venezuelans in college
Same deal.

But we didn't drink beer to celebrate. (There was a particular reason we didn't want those kids deported :smoke: )

LOL
