A flood of tears...

This is a picture of Lindsay Lawrence and her 3-year old- daughter Hayley. They lived in the Time Check neighborhood in Cedar Rapids, until the
floodwaters rushed in and forced them to evacuate on June 10. They're unable to enter their home today. A purple tag marks the house, indicating
that it is so damaged, that the house is unsafe to enter. Lindsay and her husband believe that it will be demolished. This was the first home the
family owned. They were able to move out a few major appliances, some clothes and pictures before they were forced to flee their home.

I know DUer's have big hearts. No one needs to tell anyone here that there are real people, with real lives--who were affected by the floods
in Iowa and other states.

How could anyone not be moved by Lindsay and her 3-year-old child, and how difficult this must be? Everything is gone--their house and most of its contents.

I am sure they are feeling very devastated, sad and afraid right now. I can only imagine how many times Haley has asked her mother, "When are
we going home?"

Keep these souls in your thoughts and prayers and send some positive light their way--as they rebuild their lives. These people deserve
to be honored for their courage.

Their humanity, their dignity and their future is in all of our hands, and in the hands of our leaders. Lindsay, 3-year-old Haley, her husband
and all of the victims of this catastrophic, 500-year flood--deserve America's arms around them.

9. My apologies.....
I have to admit I really didn't read your OP very thoroughly. Thanks for the 'chastening'. I will be more thorough in the future (and it's funny b/c I'm always aware/notice when OTHER posters don't read the comments or the OP....and now I've OUTTED MYSELF. I'm a hypocrite.....hating in others what I've done wrong myself)

Domestic abuse, high housing costs and unemployment increase number of homeless families in USA
10/08/2007 (article) / Society

http://newsfromrussia.com/topic/homeless-479/

According to the information provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,
there are about 750,000 homeless in the U.S. The total number of homeless people in the USA
has increased during the recent years but nobody can pinpoint an exact number of families because
reporting requirements vary widely across the nation....

--------------------

I'm sure with all these floods, that 750,000 number has increased exponentially!! :(
