I'm sick and tired of 'preaching to the choir'!
We spend all this energy here at DU and at other progressive-left sites talking and sharing opinions with like-minded people which does almost nothing to advance our causes. We need to start fighting for our known and shared ideals more aggressively, and that includes confronting our opponents in the public arena.

What are some good ways, besides electoral campaigns, that we can make our voice heard more clearly and confront the power of the right wing?

I'm in a fighting mood right now. It's not enough to have beliefs and opinions about how the world should be run; you have to struggle to turn your dreams into reality.

5. That's Mostly Preaching to the Choir, Too
I'm in northern California, so talking to neighbors is mostly preaching to the choir too.

The few I have encountered that have drunk the Kool-Aide have swallowed it hook, line, and sinker,
and nothing will convince them.

even to people who don't want to listen. Typing is a great outlet, talking is much more effective.

4. No, it actually does good talking here, because we are eavesdropped on

Thats why blogs are gaining mainstream media attention, and the attention of political leaders. They drop in and read this stuff! Look at DailyKos, and its effect.

Just keep blogging here; people in DC are watching what we write.

7. Please join a local Obama team and work to...
...elect Obama and send progressives to the House and Senate ~ we can encourage and inspire each other here, but the battle is fought and won in the real world.

9. I've said this often, myself.
Since you live in a liberal area, the best thing that you can do is reach out over the internet, or write letters to editors of papers that are delivered in Republican strongholds. Remember, though: when speaking to Republicans, you must speak about how this administration is emptying their wallets--that's all they really care about.
