VP speculation swirls around Sen. Biden

WASHINGTON -- It probably wasn't the inquiry Sen. Joe Biden anticipated. But the Delaware Democrat did, in fact, tell a crowd of his constituents at a U.S. Capitol reception they could ask him "anything at all."


"Will you accept the vice presidency?" asked Bill Rogers, a Wilmington construction inspector, drawing a burst of surprised laughter.

Such questions have been coming up regularly for Biden, who is seen as a possible running mate for presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama. This time it was at a party for Delaware's service academy-bound students and their parents, including Rogers.

Secretary of State, for example. I'd rather have him out there rebuilding our reputation overseas than sitting there waiting for the worst.

He said one word amongst a list of words describing Obama in a favorable fashion (he called Obama "articulate") and people blew it way out of proportion, as if calling Obama "articulate" means that other African-Americans aren't. It was much ado about nothing.

The fact of the matter is that Administrative branch of gov't does not make policy on the credit card industry.

to regulate these "Delaware" companies, that basically gave us many of the problems we have today with fees and interest rates that we didn't have before that court ruling.

And Delaware, with vested interests in helping their big CC companies don't want to regulate them, then who will? Biden's been the type that has helped the CC companies get more "rights" against the American consumer with abortions like the Bankruptcy Bill, and Bushco has been busy nominating judges that are more corpatist serving than Rehnquist was.

We NEED someone to reverse that trend, not make it worse! We need leadership in the White House to stop that. Biden is not that person! Obama may have some issues on that too. He wasn't my first choice, but someone like Edwards as VP I'd trust FAR MORE to keep the American people in mind rather than corporate lobbyists in mind when working on policies in the executive branch.

IIRC, my credit card interest rates have stayed low because I always make sure to pay my bill on time. There is such a thing as "finanicial priorities." If you don't have the money, don't use the cards.

Yes, I think most people try to pay their cards on time. But when something like a cc statement is lost in the mail to you and you miss it and your rate suddenly went from 0% to 25%, that in my book is excessive, and back before the last 10 years or so, most everyone else would have thought it so and state laws would have protected you from being exploited in this way.

The prime interest rate DOES NOT WARRANT credit card interest rates of 25%-30%. It is just plain manipulative loan sharking.

re: the manipulation of rates. It would seriously piss me off if my CC company jacked my rate because I was late with a payment.

This is why I never rely on the mail to get my statements, mine are electronically delivered.
