Pelosi Is Pathetic - What Her & Hoyer Mean By bi-partisanship
Not even the media establishment and the GOP can refrain from mocking this pretense they're trying to peddle. What's amazing is that they're actually as devoid of dignity as they are integrity.

As I noted yesterday, the GOP couldn't even wait for the ink to dry on this "compromise" before publicly -- and accurately -- boasting that they not only got everything they want, but got even more than they dreamed they would get. To The New York Times' Eric Lichtblau, GOP House Whip Roy Blunt derided the telecom amnesty provision as nothing more than a "formality" which would inevitably lead to the immediate and automatic dismissal of all lawsuits against the telecoms, while Sen. Kit Bond taunted the Democrats for giving away even more than they had to in order to get a deal: "I think the White House got a better deal than they even had hoped to get."

It's downright pathetic to see them try to depict their behavior as some sort of bipartisan "compromise" whereby they won meaningful concessions:

Pelosi Says: "When they saw that we were unified in sending that bill rather than falling for their scare tactics, I think it sent them a message," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). "So our leverage was increased because of our Democratic unity in both cases."

1. Yeah, this wasn't exactly a hard-fought battle for the GOP
They got WAY more than expected, had to put up less of a fight and were handed a PR victory for the president in an election year.

Some "bipartisanship".

3. last night I saw Pelosi pathetically walk up to the podium on the floor
of the House and decry the passage of money for the Iraq War (bush's war, folks). WTF, Nancy. Why didn't you stop it or at least put up something that resembled a fight? Joe Cannon, Sam Rayburn, even Tip O'neill and that miserable failure Hastert would have at least used the power of the speaker's chair to mount some opposition. WTF do you think the speaker is supposed to do? Lay down for the opposition?

4. WTF? Did she just say, that they didn't wait for the
Republicans to beat them up, and, instead, took the initiative to show them they could take a beating, by beating themselves up AND giving the Republicans what they wanted?

Is she frick'n stupid, or does she think we are?

5. Um, I pretty sure its
"she thinks we are" and apparently a good many in her district are also for passing on a chance to replace her with a BETTER DEMOCRAT during the primary.

6. That would be the perfect ending for her. She should be voted out.
