Religious license
By Bruce Kluger, David Slavin and Tim Foley
June 21, 2008
South Carolina passed a law this month allowing it to become the first state in the nation to offer its citizens specialty license plates that carry a Christian message. Adorned with a stained-glass window, a cross and the words "I Believe," the plates are already inciting protests from, among others, the American Civil Liberties Union and the American Jewish Congress; and Americans United for Separation of Church and State filed a lawsuit Thursday.

Then there's the matter of equal time ...

Bruce Kluger and David Slavin write satire for National Public Radio's "All Things Considered." They are coauthors of the new book, "Young Dick Cheney: Great American," which is illustrated by Tim Foley.

4. My dear newmajority!
Good thought!

I believe that the main focus was religious, however...

10. I figured the Amish were the most famous religious sect in PA
Edited on Sat Jun-21-08 05:19 PM by newmajority
I didn't realize they had a large JW population. It seemed that the artist of the cartoon was going for the stereotypes in his examples.... Jews in Florida, Scientologists in California, Mormon polygamists in Utah, etc. It's funny either way, but I just think "Amish" more than the door knockers when I think of Pennsylvania.

Could have been worse, I guess. He could have gone for a Quaker Oats joke.

thanks. My name is what I would tell the religious nuts in my family that keep saying Godless Warmongering Bastard is a Christian.

Good stuff there!

BTW, CaliPeg, if you use "Direct Link" instead of "IMG code" from photobucket you won't get that extra pic placeholder on the left.

11. My dear krispos42!
Oh, thanks!

I wondered how to do that...

These are hilarious, IMHO!

If you click the link to the article, you can see the images in a much larger format...

They wouldn't copy and paste, so I went the Photobucket route...
