Dodd, Leahy and Feingold oppose the New! Improved! FISA bill.
Sens. Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.) and Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) continue to oppose the new legislation, as does Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).

4. Just going by HIS words
Said he supports FISA bill but will "work" to strip immunity from the bill. I am opposed to the bill with or without the immunity provision.

2. Has Biden said anything public about this? I couldn't find
Edited on Sat Jun-21-08 05:42 PM by babylonsister
anything current; this is from 6 June...

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/06/06/politics/horserace/entry4160067.shtml

In his statement, Biden wrote that the FISA statute, which he helped draft, "made clear the exclusive legal steps the President must take in order to conduct national security surveillance."

"President Bush chose to ignore the law and now it seems Senator McCain will continue this policy," Biden writes. "Once again – there is no daylight between President Bush and Sen. McCain."

"We all share the goal of capturing the terrorists and protecting national security and we can do that without violating the privacy of the American people," he added. "Like President Bush, Sen. McCain is presenting the American people with a false choice—national security or civil liberties. We need a President who understands that we can have both. It’s what our values and our Constitution demands.”

Edit to add: he's on MTP tomorrow; maybe they'll be discussing this.

7. Ha! I was just reading that on his site
because I was looking to see if he'd issued a statement on it (since he issues a statement on just about everything :7).

I'm hoping he continues to back Dodd on this, but we'll see.

When is the vote, anyway -- do we have any idea? We'll have ripped each others throats out by then. :7

9. The vote is next week; I guess exact day/time to be determined.
Yes, emotions are running high. I'm annoyed as hell at the House for even considering this bill. They could have waited.
