Most important local race in America?
So far we know we've got to get as many Democrats into national office as we can. But what about the local races? What do you think is the most important local (governors and below) race in America this year?

I'm going for the Maricopa County Sheriff's race. Dan Saban has GOT to beat Joe Arpaio.

3. I whole heartedly agree!!!
Kucinich is such a brave soul to go out there and challenge his party for what is right. While I love Obama and feel he is a universe's worth of potential better than McSame...Kucinich was my original choice for Pres. This is my first post...I have been lurking for three years.-Mike

7. Thank you
I brought Dennis into our church for a morning community meeting of leaders of the faith. He did a great job. Tacoma, Washington was on fire for him. I pray for our election coming up...it is so important. I just hope that the message of the profound difference between the progressives and the conservation neo-cons get a fair hearing among the electorate-Mike C

5. District Attorney in Johnson County, Kansas.
The current office holder is an extreme right-winger named Phill Kline. He got the job when the previous incumbent defeated Kline for the Attorney General position, and the Johnson County Republican Precinct Committee Chairs got to select the replacement to finish out the uncompleted term. Kline originally said he would not run for re-election, recently changed his mind. While in the DA's office he's left a trail of incompetent bumbling, including firing about half of the assistant DA's the first week he was in office. As a consequence, the new hires don't know what they're doing, and cases are not being handled in a timely or professional manner. He seems currently to be in the process of screwing up a high-profile murder case. It's the one where the teenage girl was abducted from a local Target parking lot and murdered. The perpetrator was caught very quickly, but Kline has already been admonished by the judge in the case to play by the rules.

He's widely despised expect by the extreme right wing of the Republican party, and there are several good candidates running against him. Hopefully he'll lose in the primary.

8. Ousting Nancy Pelosi!
Frankly I don't care if a Republican gets the seat. I expect a republican to oppose us. But not one our own, ahem, public servants. Just as long as Pelosi will NEVER sit in it again. I'm fine with whoever gets her seat.
