1. Former rather than later....
...but, shhhhh, you don't want to upset the economy of the divorce industry.

Did you really think the issue was about who is boinking whom?

8. But, but, but,...that's not the only two orientations nowadays.
Now there's: http://www.asexuality.org

And this one is a real puzzlement of nature versus nuture; neither of the sexes stirs their neurons.
They suggest it's not a really a choice, just the way it is.

And like gays, they are frequently in the closet and do marry, and even deny their nowhere-on-the-bellcurve-sexual status and pro-create, which I would consider the ultimate dishonesty and fraud. Horrible emotional and psychological blackmail for a partner.

3. Cohabitation
is probably a threat too. People marrying later, if at all, and even the divorced choosing not to remarry.

4. That's what I've been saying all along
Divorce and living together are threats to marriage--not two people in love who want to get married.

And you'd think that a certain element of the business community would be all for more marriages--florists, caterers, etc, will get a big boost in business. But I bet a lot of business people are in favor for just these reasons.

5. The quality of life in a social climate mired in corporate "values."
Such values are in many ways antithetical to the striving toward love, tolerance and fulfillment.

7. Can anybody explain to me how allowing Gay People to Marry THREATENS the Institution of Marriage
Edited on Sun Jun-22-08 10:32 AM by TheWatcher
That isn't based on bigotry and senseless straw man arguments?

Even if you are just wanting to play Devil's Advocate.

I mean, has there ever been a logical, serious, legitimate argument that has been put forth on how this is such a threat?

Did I miss something?

Because if there is I'd love to hear it.

Just so I can be illogical, unreasonable, and oppose it anyway.

10. I was going to answer your post but then I read the first line about bigotry and straw men.
Nope. No reasons without bigotry and straw men.
