Energized Democrats Gather For Nebraska Convention (I made the TV news video)

I'm in the same black hat and local 251 shirt I had on in the Edwards video from last Oct. I'm in a shot of the crowd as they start to sit.

FREMONT, Neb. -- Nebraska Democrats gathered for their state convention in Fremont Saturday to elect delegates to the national convention, amid energy and optimism about their party’s prospects this year.

“I think people know this is going to be a huge year,” said congressional candidate Jim Esch. “And to be a part of that is exciting for ‘em.”

U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson was among a list of prominent Nebraska Democrats at the convention. He predicted presumptive nominee Sen. Barack Obama might win two of the state’s five electoral votes, and possibly more.

Nebraska rules call for electoral votes to be awarded by congressional district, though they’ve never been divided in previous elections. A Democrat hasn’t carried the state since 1964.

The delegates elected Saturday will travel to Denver for the national convention, which begins Aug. 25.
