4. What about his sports reports?
"Here are tonight's baseball scores.....3-2, 5-4, and a partial score, Pittsburgh 7." My scores are probably wrong, but you get the idea.

10. We're showing our age.
Remember the Russian ICBMs on the weather radar or the one-arm man in a boat? Wish I still had all those old tapes and LPs. None of that stuff is on YouTube.

11. Sure we know the difference -- football uses a bigger puck.
And in baseball, they sweep the ice a bit more before throwing the stone.

13. He expressed my sentiments exactly
I always did feel that football was a real sport, while baseball was...well...a tad on the sissy side. Let's face it, not one of those lardbutts who call themselves MLB "athletes" could cut it in any real sport that demanded any prolonged activity.

George Carlin was a true comic genius, and a true genius at observing society.

14. Yep, football is the king of sports.
I heard this Carlin routine when I was a kid and loved it then.

19. And I thought it was dissing football
by giving it all the "bad" attributes.

I see it as a statement that football is the sport of warmongers.

23. You try hitting a baseball thrown at you at 90+ mph
With a round stick maybe three inches in diameter. Oh. And you don't know if the ball is going to go straight, left, right, up or down. And you've pretty much got to decide just about the time the pitcher releases the ball.

And tell me any ol' lardbutt can do it.

22. He went back fartther than that
Carlin was in the Air Force in the '50s and while stationed at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana he moonlighted as a disc jockey for a nearby radio station, where he put to work some of the characters he'd been developing since he was a kid. When the Air Force kicked him out, he got a gig at a station in Texas, where he met Jack Burns, another DJ, later famous as half of Burns and Schreiber (noted for that rapid-fire "Huh?" "Yeah." "Huh?" "Yeah." "Huh?" "Yeah" bit that Burns continued in his stint as the deputy who replaced Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show"). The Burns and Carlin team worked the California comedy circuit for a couple of years around 1960.

See what you can learn from Playboy? :D

Oh — in the Air Force, Carlin was a radar/optics technician on SAC bombers. He said in his Playboy interview that he smoked dope every day he was in the service.
