11. What's even better than watching the sunset is watching the fire at night from a moderate distance.
Yes, fire is destructive, but it's also a very beautiful natural phenomenon.

5. I'm sorry. I hope they can get the 500 fires under control quickly....
Last year we had ash and smoke dumped on us for over two months from the gigantic Zaca Fire. Take care of your lungs, okay? And stay safe.

7. Tell me about it!
As I was getting on to 65, if you know where that is, and I looked towards Auburn and the mountains, it was terrible. I could hardly see past my little town. I was surprised at how many people were out doing stuff today though with how bad the air was.

Was it a Spare The Air day today?

12. That's scary.

Thankfully the only thing we need to worry about it if a house catches fire, because it could spread really fast.

We were trying to pinpoint the location of the fire today. Because there was so much, I'd say it was probably in like the Santa Clara area and probably one up in Colfax/Auburn/Truckee. That's one of the unfortunate downsides to being near Sacramento. You get the winds from all over, and if there's a fire it all leads straight to you.

But best of luck to you. Hope you get through it safely

14. My parents live in Suisun City(close to Fairfield), up Green Valley Road above the Golf course
and there is a fire burning about 2 miles from their house. They are on volunteer evacation mode there in that area.

The fire has been burning since yesterday.

17. The air's better here but still pretty smoky.
No fires within 20 miles of us AFAIK but it's also a valley and the bad air has been lingering since last weekend. The long views are all very hazy.
