3. The powers that be are smart enough to screw us into riding bikes more

and they're smart enough to only inflate fuel prices enough to keep us on the brink of death. If the American economy dies, so do many other systems, and they can't afford that. Expect the gas prices to rise just a little higher, and then drop just before October. They'll still be up for Northeast fuel oil bills, and will hurt mostly Democratic voting people, but this is what will happen.

It's all about extracting every last dollar from someone, without killing them.

are worried that they will start eating it - so they are getting to a point that they will start dumping and the price will go down precipitously and some will lose big dollars. They are watching for any negative sign to start dumping and the ones that do it first will lose the least. It will be a frenzy and a bloodbath. This is high stakes stuff and some are getting nervous.
