Lego Secret Vault Contains All Sets in History

I came upon this from Slashdot, and it made me smile so I thought I'd share it. We need stuff to smile about, I think...

I was just enjoying it like an archeologist. Her explanations, the cool box designs, the quick evolution of the first years... I was amazed by the ingenuity of it all, curious about the origins of the myth. But that was it. Just simple curiosity. Until we got to the 1970s.

A wave of emotions took control, hitting my head like a Lego Airbus 380. Dozens of images started to appear in my head, Polaroids of Xmas and birthdays that I thought were faded, completely fresh, color-corrected, and restored by the damn Lucasfilm for a Blu-ray re-release. I could even see the Hollywood quote whores saying "Better than ever!", "The past never looked so good!", and "Five stars!" embossed in silver on the special edition boxed set. There was my mother and father—who built a huge Lego ferris wheel and the Blue Train for us when we were too young to build it, then never stop giving us new sets every year—and then my two brothers and my sister, playing on the rug, building all kind of new and wonderful constructions populated by the strangest creatures. And that smell. The perfect smell of Lego bricks.

5. My now 38 year old son has about half of all those shown in the vault! He's been

getting Lego's since the early '70s. He has two containers about 6' by 3' by 3' full of Lego blocks and over 3 dozen plastic shoe boxes full of sorted special pieces. I have something like 4 giant moving boxes in my attic full of the original Lego boxes!

I'm 40, and am happy to report that there is no maximum age to play with toys! :-)

6. As a parent of an engineering genius, age three.

Even though it has been almsot thirty years since he lay on the floor building his creations, my feet still retain the memory of those jagged and sharp edges piercing the flesh every time they took a midnight trip across the carpet without socks.

Leggos = OUCH!!

7. I was the proud owner of the biggest set of Legos in the entire neighborhood.

BTW: This was while I was at the school of engineering at Cal State University Northridge. I was the envy of all my classmates. A lot of them used to come over to my apartment on weekends to play with my Legos. hehe.

12. Cool lego site to check out (instruction scans)

Peeron.com has an inventory system. This is cool because it allows you to check what you have against other sets.

Even better, it has instuction scans for sets older then 5 years. This is with the blessing of the Lego company, which has always been receptive to the needs of the fan base.

All they have to do now is re-release the classic space line, I'll be very happy, and my checkbook will not...

This is the great good joy for me of being a grown up...I go into the Sanrio store, I have a credit card and NOBODY can tell me no! hehheheee!

13. Everything about Lego is Danish

After visiting museums in Denmark with my learned brother in law, I made the connection between Lego and Danish culture. I also spent an entire day at Legoland in Billund - an entire theme park built with Lego look-alike blocks. I still love Lego.

20. i must be old,i remember when i was a kid the only Legos were blocks.

they didn't have any special shapes,or wheels.
you'll have to excuse me,those damn kids are on the lawn again...

21. they still are mostly blocks, there are some special shapes but at lego land

you would not believe the creations they make, whole city scape's made of legos, it's really great and as far as theme parks go it's chilled out, not many rides just lots of cool stuff made from legos.

back in 1994. He had been many times so he gave me a great tour.
