Pelosi Welcomes Filibuster of the House FISA Surrender Bill
Pelosi Welcomes Filibuster of the House FISA Surrender Bill
by mcjoan
Tue Jun 24, 2008 at 11:55:20 AM PDT
Now that the American people who actually care about the Constitution are making a lot of noise, Pelosi is saying that maybe the Senate should take a little more time than she allowed in the House.

The House passed the legislation last week, despite misgivings and outright opposition from many Democrats. Pelosi voted for the bill, saying legislation was urgently needed to update federal authority to collect intelligence information. But she said the provision granting retroactive immunity to telecommunications companies that aided the government surveillance program is "a cause for great anger" among the American people.

"It would be healthy if (the public) heard more about it... even if the resolution is the same," Pelosi said, when asked by reporters whether she thinks Senate Democrats, including Sen. Barack Obama, should filibuster the legislation updating the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act as it heads to the Senate floor this week.

 Democrats are capitulating to give them retroactive immunity. There is nothing more to hear.

13. Congresscritters aren't impeachable -
the "impeachment" is to vote them out of office in a regular election cycle or recall them in a special election (rarely happens).

5. Where was she last week when she too could have spoken up to protect our constitution?
Ah yes, I remember. She was congratulating herself and the rest of the spineless congressional dems for voting for the "compromise" which compromises our constitution. Very nice, Ms. Pelosi- jump on board and do the right thing AFTER you had a chance to do just that.

12. So a split Senate is supposed to do what her clear/ Democrat/majority House wouldn't??
that's rich.

Just the other day, she was asking GW how he enjoyed the blowjob she gave him, and now she's saying she's on our side? PAHLEEEZ.

15. Nancy Capitulosi now trying to avoid having egg on her face
if by some means, the legislation is voted down. She's trying to position herself as it would be extremely embarrassing to her if the Senate including Obama were to defeat the legislation she voted for and backed in the House.

16. Ha!
First she votes for it and after a fire is lit under her ass she wants the Senate to kill it and provide cover for her. How stupid does she think we are! How truly sad that the "First Woman Speaker of the House" title was wasted on this stupid harpy. She really was not deserving of such a place in history.

22. "How stupid does she think we are!"
Apparently stupid enough that 89 percent of the voters in her allegedly left-leaning district rejected a real progressive and reelected this inane, incompetent half-wit Bushie suck-up for no other reason than name identification, the official mass media pat on the head, a roughly 20 - 1 advantage in campaign money (known in civilized societies as corporate bribes) and access to enough botox to paralyze a rhinoceros.

So one down, one to go. It would be overwhelmingly cool to see Cindy kick that cottage cheese ass all the way from the Ferry Building to the Emeryville mud flats. I doubt it's possible, but I do know it's not possible to continue making excuses for a dangerously delusional Bushie tool who has either the gall or the loose relationship with reality required to make statements like:

“When they saw that we were unified in sending that bill rather than falling for their scare tactics, I think it sent them a message,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). “So our leverage was increased because of our Democratic unity in both cases.”

Yeah, they got the message alright. Same one she's been sending since January 2006. Which goes a lot like "Beat me, lie to me, steal my chemicals, destroy my reputation ... Just don't make me act like a democrat."

So that would have been awful enough had she the sense to shut her mouth right then and keep it shut. But I get the feeling this woman is on a life-long quest for "points" from wingers, if that makes sense, so she just couldn't stop herself before the Post caught enough lunacy to infer:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she supported the bill primarily because it rejects Bush's argument that a wartime chief executive has the "inherent authority" to conduct some surveillance activity he considers necessary to fight terrorism. It restores the legal notion that the FISA law is the exclusive rule on government spying.

"This is a democracy. It is not a monarchy," Pelosi said.

Of course it is, Nance. Although you do seem to be doing your level best to fix that little screw-up. I do like the use of the word "inherent," though. Now if you can manage to link it with another word like, ohhh, "contempt," for example, we might finally get someplace.

But that would be as difficult as speaking ancient Etruscan, and would probably cause your face to contort in a politically unacceptable grimace. So you just keep on smoking whatever it is that makes you drool and blather on about compromises and showing Bushie who's boss and all that if it helps you sleep at night.

Just avoid mirrors and progressives and you'll be fine... as long as you agree to resign yesterday.
