The Christian Taliban runs amok in SC .. especially the upstate (brothel alert!). |
|
Our niece is a senior at a small upstate SC university. She was the president of her sorority last year. She is a 3.8 GPA student. She and five other "sisters" lived in a house owned by the parents of one of the "sisters". The five paid rent to the parents of the sixth.
The home owners (parents) got a notice last month that they were in violation of SC state brothel laws. It seems that in SC, six un-related women in a house constitutes a brothel. Our niece emailed me her new address today.
How fucked up is that?
BTW: No limit on un-related guys in a house. But who in their right mind rents to multiple guys?

I'm sorry your niece had to move, but that's funny. :D Besides, SC makes us look sane. :P
So, six men living together aren't a bath house? ;-)

It's also illegal to walk a duck down Main Street on sundays, eat peas with a spoon, and laugh in the presence of the Stars 'n Bars.

5. Ahhhh...Pity the sane South Carolinians |
|
I remember reading a couple of years ago, that there was this proposed movement by fundies to all go and live in South Carolina, so they could set up a state based on Biblical principles and if they were thwarted by the Courts they would secede from the Union and form their own country.
Why South Carolina??? It really didn't say.
I'm sure, like the first settlers of Springfield, they misinterpreted a passage in the Bible.

7. That must be the misinterpretation from the Bible |
|
But, I am still curious "Why not Virginia???"
I mean Regents University and Falwell College (Liberty Baptist) are there as is the 700 Club HQ and Falwell's mansion.
Will they move those things to S.C. ???

Because even with out the fundies, it has a huge percentage of hard core conservatives, military and retired military personnel and just plain crazies.

9. IIRC Mississippi has a similar law. |
|
My SIL went to USM and I first found out about that law from her. STUPID.
