6. Here's A Game For Ya...

Watch the cable "news" channels and note the number of commercials sponsored by groups like the American Petroleum Institute or some large conglomerate like GE or Exxon/Mobil. Then watch how they cover stories about the oil mess. Or when it was the banking/market collapse, it was all the large brokerage and lending firms that were more than happy to tell you your credit score. Just follow the money, that's what shapes a lot we see and hear.

This regime didn't create this corporate media culture, they've only exploited and rewarded it. The GOOP learned how to badger the refs and then reward the media when they began to use right wing framing of issues. Now we have a corporate media...full of themselves from years of fattening with "deregulation" and drinkie-drinkie parties that see their role as some kind of moral gatekeeper of the "status quo". They've turned politics into a reality show and replaced information with "punditry"...replacing facts with spin and looking for confrontation to further their own profit and importance.

The good news is people are seeing through it and are starting to demand some accountability out of what they see and hear. Now will this be enough people to make a difference this November? That's our job to make sure of.

I was watching it...I also read Coyote's book about the history of Haight...real fun stuff to read. I made a pilgrimage there two years ago...yet another old hippie running around all the head shops and book stores. :rofl:

It's hard to explain to those who weren't around at the time the feelings that were gripping the country during '67...yep, we were naive...we thought that truth and justice would rise about power and greed. It's a lesson that took many of us years to figure out...and still trying to figure out.

Back in the 90's, not a day went past that someone in the beloved media was calling for Clinton's head and calling him a LIAR...no matter if it was proven or not. He didn't misspeak or misrepresent or "confuse" things...he LIED. However I don't know anyone in this media "pool" (kinda like a gene pool on crack) use those terms in regards to this regime. They're too scared...afraid it'll cut off "access" or get them off the drinkie-drinkie party circuit...so they ignore all the lies and criminality of this regime (enabling where they're conflicted) and worry about if Obama is a "muslim" or wears a lapel pin or will grant reparations (I keep hearing that one)...building him up only to now break him down when their power base is threatened.
