Limbaugh: ‘Democrats Will Bend Over, Grab The Ankles, Say Have Your Way With Me’ To Blacks And Gays»

Media Matters notes that on his radio show yesterday, Rush Limbaugh told a caller that “Democrats will bend over, grab the ankles, and say have your way with me” to African-Americans and gays:

CALLER: Hello. I want to know how the Republicans don’t need Christians and conservatives, and they think we’re 30 percent. Twelve percent black people in the population. Ten percent — they claim — homosexuals in the population. Rush, honey, when did 30 percent get to be a small number?

LIMBAUGH: I don’t — I think it’s actually larger than 30 percent. But let me see if I can get your question right. You want to know why the Republicans are willing to say, “Screw you,” to 30 percent or more of their voters and yet Democrats will bend over, grab the ankles, and say, “Have your way with me,” for 10 percent and 2 percent of the population?

CALLER: Delicately, yes.

Listen at link~

Limbaugh said “these kooks — and I’m not talking about just the blacks — I’m talking about a whole kook-fringe base” have influence because they have money. But, he added, “in addition to the money aspect of this,” there is the “anti-war kook fringe. And it is huge. From MoveOn.org to Think Progress to My Base Book — whatever these things, these things — well, maybe not MySpace or Face, whatever it is.”

Limbaugh complained that these “kooks” have too much influence on the left. All this coming from the far right’s preeminent smear artist, a man who is — as John McCain says — “a voice that is respected by a lot of people who are in our {Republican} party.

38. He's syndicated, Imus had a single employer.
Rush has to be "fired" on a station-by-station basis, since he owns his syndicate, so he's essentially his own boss.

There are some networks, like Clear Channel, that could fire him from hundred of stations at once, but most of them like his message.

... and Republicans have been bending over, grabbing their ankles and letting corporations have their way for YEARS and those guys are 1/10th of a percent of the population.
Still, this is coming from a guy whose anal cyst has more processing power than his Oxycontin addled brain.

8. If that's a direct quote, Limbaugh just called every black person
a "kook." “these kooks — and I’m not talking about just the blacks..."

Every American should be jumping on this guy just like they IMUS when he made his racist comments.

10. I agree, but he's untouchable for whatever reason. Or he knows
just how far he can go before he gets shut down, so he doesn't cross that line. I think he's way more controversial than Imus, if anyone would call him out on what he says.

Alot of people listen to his radio show exactly because he's so outrageous. Like other shock-jocks, he retains his ratings by saying things like that.

26. Big difference, though
Imus would sometimes have liberals on his show and allow them to speak... Limbaugh's show is pretty much a closed shop with no dissent (Democrats/liberals) allowed.

34. He syndicates his own show, so he can't be fired. He can be dropped
by individual stations, but you have to go station to station to get that to happen. And he gets dropped by someone all the time, but someone else picks him up, so he doesn't get hurt too badly. There are large conglomerate of stations that could dump him from hundreds all at once, but they generally like him.

Also, realize how he became popular. There wasn't a groundswell of support for him in most markets. Rather, corporations and big business wanted him to become popular, to get tax-cutting Republicans in office, and they packaged his show with large national or multinational advertisers to local and conglomerate-owned radio stations, showing unprofitable AM stations how they could actually make some cash. That put him on hundreds of radios, where people listened to him or nothing.

Not saying he doesn't have an entertainment talent that kept people coming back. Even money needs something to work with. But he wasn't an entertainer who worked hard to build himself into a raging success. He was a toadie who carried water for corporations, and they put him where he is. And they keep him there. He's good for their tax cuts, no matter who he offends.

25. Now, that's not a nice thing to say
"A whole kook-fringe base" that has influence because they have money. Can you imagine such a thing? But I don't think Rush should dismiss his entire corporate welfare queen base as "kooks." After all, they have so much money!

Wait . . . who was he referring to again? Oh. That's really bad. Maybe next time Katie Couric has him on the Evening News, she'll put his segment on way at the end of the show. That should teach Mr. Limbaugh a lesson!

36. Yes, amazing.
It's not just the "He must know about this because he's gay" routine--one could phrase that as a psychological observation about projection without being offensive, I would think.

But some of these comments are as bad as what Limbaugh said, and the posters seem to not realize that. You wonder why they are here--is it just about the color of the uniforms, or do they have any actual values that would differentiate them from Limbaugh's group? Having different positions on issues isn't enough to make a real distinction between left and right, IMHO.

32. What is his point
My understanding is that the GLBT community is about 5-6% of the electorate, not 10%.

Anyway, the dems aren't perfect with blacks & gays. The refusal to support gay marriage and the indifference to vote suppression in 2000 and 2004 that mostly affected blacks was ignored by the democrats.

The best part about the 'base' of the GOP being extremely religious people and white rural people who don't like blacks, gays or mexicans is that there aren't enough of them to win but there are enough people that they don't like who will vote to keep them and their polticians out of power. Latinos, agnostics, GLBT and blacks already make up 25-40% of the electorate and that number will grow. And they mostly want nothing to do with the GOP.

40. "and I’m not talking about just the blacks"
In my world, Rush would be in prison right now. If the ONLY thing that comes out of your mouth is hate, you don't have a right to speak, in my opinion. Rush Limbaugh serves no useful purpose. EVERYTHING he says is meant to hurt someone, and nothing else. If everything that comes out of his mouth is meant to hurt people or piss people off, I don't care about his individual right to free speech. I don't understand why anyone would listen to him. Even Pat Robertson and his kind are capable of saying atleast something positive about someone, but not Rush.
