Carlin's 7 dirty words offensive my fat pink ass
As usual, dirty words are still so powerful, that we remember George Carlin, or Lenny Bruce by their Fucks and Shits.

I remember sitting in front of a television watching an HBO special where Carlin was live at Carnegie Hall and did the most scathing attack on American Imperialist racism I have ever heard in my life, and yes that includes Malcolm X.

We are led to believe that the legacy of Richard Pryor was all about saying nigger, and Carlin was all about motherfucker-cocksucker.

These were people who pierced our very souls, they ripped our hearts out and showed them to us. Carlin deconstructed language like chomsky on acid.

I was strong when Carlin died, and did not cry.

I wept afterward as he was being remembered as the guy who said cocksucker 35 years ago. - "Scooter" Houston, TX

1. Yeah, the idiot box was great at pointing out he said dirty words
but piss poor at pointing out that he said those words in order to point out the rank hypocrisy the idiot box represented.

Carlin recognized at the beginning that this country was turning totalitarian, and that in a totalitarian country, only comedians are allowed to speak the truth.

He spoke it far too well to be remembered for it by the blow dried bobbleheads on the tube.

2. Dick Gregory said...

...that Carlin was a "brain surgeon," and that he performed surgery on people when they weren't even aware of it - reorganizing how they perceive the world.

9. Except that Lenny Bruce thought...
That you shouldn't say "fuck you" to somebody you are mad at, fucking is a pleasant experience. The correct thing to say would be "unfuck you".

Something that has stuck with me for years, don't know why. and its obviously not an exact quote.

4. Forget what the msm says
Edited on Wed Jun-25-08 08:15 AM by lunatica
And remember Carlin with gratitude that he was there to pry our minds open. He was brilliant and the msm can't do a damn thing about it. There is no spinning George Carlin as anything other than what he was and continues to be.

edited to add a word for clarity

5. "Not Dirty Words...Dirty Thoughts"
George Carlin was a reality check for me throughout my life. He was always a voice of cynicism, truth and laughter at many important junctures of my life that it's hard to express how much of a loss this great talent is and how much this man made an impact on so many lives. He was always a friend...someone you wanted to party with...always wanting to hear yet another thought that he had. The man crafted his art over the years...touching on what really mattered and then turning the world on its side to see what shook out.

One big salvation for me was being able to enjoy this man's entire career and then sharing it with my son...sharing many of his albums and TV specials and appreciating his genius while he was still with us. The great thing about George is that while he's physically gone, his style of humor and his many disciples will continue his quest for truth and irony in life.

6. I'm disgustipated with the M$M coverage
It's almost as if they're annoyed at this untimely interruption and can't wait to get back to the Russert fellating.

And Yahoo still has Russert on their top five Full Coverage News stories with nary a mention of George. (The other four stories are Iraq, the 2008 election, Zimbabwe and China.)

Every story is the same. Carlin used to wear a tie, Carlin came up with the seven words, Carlin got cranky as he got older. It's like someone wrote one eulogy and everyone just copied it. Well, he was a lot more than that, more of a philosopher-satirist than mere comic.

Then there are some people; they're not stupid, they're not full of shit... They're fucking nuts! Dan Quayle is all three! All three! Stupid, full of shit, and fucking nuts! And where did he get that wife of his? Have you taken a good look at that Marilyn Quayle? Where did he get her, at a Halloween party or something? She looks like Prince Charles for Christ sake! Let me ask you something, does he actually have to fuck that women! Huh? God help him, I wouldn't fuck her with a stolen dick!

That's my political humor. People like it when you're topical.

10. Screw the media.
We know what George Carlin did and what he meant(means) to us. And in the end, that's all that matters. Anyone who believes the garbage the media spews wouldn't have gotten George anyway.

Did you see Colbert last night? He remembered Carlin during "The Word" segment. It was appropriate and touching and I highly recommend it.

11. Best eulogy I've seen
The greatest philosopher of our time has died.

Now observe the contrast of how the mainstream media will cover this event with their unceasing marathon of coverage of the death of Tim Russert.

Notice how the MSM celebrated and lauded one of its own who was a servant to the powers-that-be, a soothing and compliant tool who help spread disinformation and mendacious lies for the state and its policies of war, mass murder, heinous torture, repression of civil liberties, and destruction of the rule of law.

Contrast that coverage with the meager reporting of the death of the brilliant and courageous Carlin who always spoke truth to power, and exposed the hypocrisy, vacuousness, and intellectual bankruptcy of the mass man culture fostered by the overlords who rule our corporate welfare-warfare regime.

I was privileged to see two live performances of this raucous cantankerous oracle of wisdom and insight.

I laughed so much that my sides ached.

But my mind was opened to joyous illumination and wonderment.

Something great has gone out of our world."

Charles Burris

14. No shit
Instead of pointing out his hilarious, spot on analysis of American culture, the media repeated "Seven dirty words" over and over again. That was HOW many years ago?

Carlin was instrumental in teaching me at a young age to embrace words, to choice the ones I use, to expand my vocabulary, to explore the power of words, and not to give them either more or less power than they merit. I'm still a very fine profanity user when I choose, a talent I appreciate more as I grow older.
I also have a great vocabulary.
