surge update - Iraq: Blast kills at least 15 as another US soldier dies
couldn't find ANY iraq news in US newspapers......but

Iraqi police on Thursday said a suicide bomber has detonated an explosive belt inside the municipal council headquarters in a town west of Baghdad during a meeting of tribal sheiks. Initial reports say at least 15 people have died in the explosion in the town of Karmah, including some sheiks and the town's administrative director.

3. Looking back I believe I would have been one mad assed okie if when I was in VietNam
if our press had shown such little interest in our mission. When I arrived in country then I was of the belief that we had to do what we were doing there, I admit at that point in time I really didn't know what that was though. In less than two weeks time I came to see what we were doing was as wrong as what I see happening now in the middle east is. It is disrespectful of our Troops what our press is doing to appease this warmongering crew, bushco.

6. This is standard for boring, unnecessary, noncritical wars.
If Iraq were producing carcasses at the rate VN did it would get at least the same amount of coverage, though it would be much less adversarial and/or graphic.

Then there's the old adage about the Korean War (during the static phase) where a newspaper ran the same war news three of four days in a row and no one complained because no one apparently noticed or cared.
