***Senate FISA Thread!?***
Is this it?

Has no one started one this morning?

Lindsay Graham was making an ass out of himself, and now I see a QUORUM CALL....

Anyone know what's going on?

8. A few others have suggested...
...we mail photocopies of checks made out to the Congress critter in question for a small amount on the condition they vote against FISA.

The important information is redacted, but the message should be clear: if you vote against FISA, you could possibly enjoy the kind of fundraising Obama is.

Some details still need work, but that's what this forum is for.

17. Rockefella was on a little while ago
He looked a little shaken trying to justify how much better for civil liberties this new bill is. Pure BS. He was going on about how Americans overseas would have the same rights as Americans at home. He was stammering. It seems as if the phone calls have unnerved him, but he is still pushing his POS bill.

18. If I didn't know better, I would think that today is one big
fillibuster for every bill up. Ensign objected to oil cartel investigation debate to push his clean energy tax rebates, which has already blocked the housing bill and continues to do so, he is calling for Americans to call and write their Senators to get his bill passed, an Alaska Senator wanted to honor his mother-in-law who died and spoke about her to put into the record, Brown is up honoring some poet, Durbin is pushing the medical patch bill, there is no debate, no consistency and apparently no one there. Quorum call after quorum call. Either they are mass filibustering or voting and debating in another chamber to fool those of us who are watching. Kerry up now. Talking I hope about FISA. But still, no one there.

40. It likely means they are working on FISA
behind the scenes. Kerry could have given a brilliant statement on FISA just by reading the statement he put out yesterday and the one in December. He is not on either committee that is fighting this battle with speeches. He made his position clear.

Speeches on other things are allowed when there is time. Just because Kerry, who is 100% on your side on FISA, is not speaking of FISA, I seriously doubt - though I admit to not hearing it - that he was yammering. He is one of the top SFRC people - and they do sometimes speak of other countries.

Supplemental Spending Bill
Senate is working on the domestic spending portion of the bill.

Funding for Iraq/Afghanistan wars already approved.

Voting to waive the Budget Act.

Motion to waive the Budget Act.
Temporarily sets aside a specific part of the Budget Act.

Without a waiver, a point of order could cause a provision in the bill to fail.

With a waiver, the provision may remain even though it violates the Budget Act.

The motion is debatable, In most cases, a 3/5 vote (60) is required for adoption.

The motion is agreed to.
