Congressional hearings are on a par with WWF (professional wrestling) |
|
It's just a show. No one really gets hurt and they all go out and have a few laughs at a bar afterward.
The formats stink, they never allow enough time, and they routinely roll over even when supoenas are ignored and fake privileges are claimed. I firmly believe that regular readers of Kos, TPM and DU could have formulated better lines of questioning than that done by the Congresspeople on the panel today regarding Torture and Interrogation Techniques.
What's with the attorney/client privilege invoked by Yoo? Who is the supposed client?
And, what, honestly, is supposed to be the upshot of hearings like the one today? People who genuinely care about this issue and who see it as the defining low point of the Bush Presidency might get some little pleasure watching Yoo squirm and Addington's invincible pomposity left as some sort of public record on You Tube, but so what?

1. I wish it was on par with WWF |

I'd love to watch them yelling at each other and see the occasional thrown chair.

People here bring their kids to WWF events and you shouldn't spoil their fun by telling them it's not real.
