Wayne LaPierre looks like Alan Colmes' older brother
He is an obscene man.

"All good people now have the right to protect themselves from the bad people."

1. Good people protecting themselves against bad people is a bad thing?

5. YOU do, subject to verification by the criminal justice system

:hi:

One rule taught in firearms self-defense classes is that if you have any doubt about whether you are in a shoot or a no-shoot situation, you don't shoot.

8. So lemme get that straight .......
.... I shoot and kill you.

The police come and investigate.

They take it to a prosecutor.

He decides I am right or wrong. We both know the Either/Or that follows.

So I get away with it or not depending on a third party making a decision on my actions.

In the meantime, you're still dead.

Is that about it?

9. If I was attacking you, threatening you with death or bodily injury
Then you should get away with it.

12. "Get outta here before I kick your ass" ............. then ...........

Pretty extreme for a pretty mild threat, no?

Where's the line?

3. What if I've had a really bad night and I wake up
nasty. I don't like the way you look. I think you are scary. I think you are one of the bad people and shoot you. Is this all right? Who gets to decide which are the good or bad people?

6. If you have days that bad, you probably shouldn't have a gun
I respect your right to not have one.

13. You're citing a parody of a fictional TV series to support your position?
I'll stick with reality, thank you.

15. The actual point, as I see it, is that DC had laws that prohibited good people from owning handguns
Edited on Thu Jun-26-08 04:26 PM by slackmaster
And keeping them in their own homes for any lawful purpose.

That restriction has been struck down as unconstitutional.

It doesn't make any difference to criminals (other than a very slightly increased risk of getting shot during a break-in).

I'm still at work and don't have the luxury of joining you in watching TV at the moment. Keep us posted.

21. Crap, now I'm envious
The best I can do is surf the Web when I am goofing off. I am expected to be at a pooter all the time, but no streaming video.

26. I don't have one either - against company policy
Someone got fired from here once upon a time for keeping a handgun in his desk drawer.

I do keep a round of World War II vintage .30-'06 ammo on my desk as a toy.

16. Yes, but now I can have one.
(My days and nights are just fine, by the way.) I'm not anti-gun, I just worry that there are too many guns in the hands of some scary folks.

18. Scary folks have rights too
People who have proved that they are untrustworthy, e.g. convicted felons, are still prohibited from owning guns of any kind.

7. That's St. LaPierre to you, pal....
And if you don't refer to him as such, you can kiss any chance of regaining the White House goodbye.

What are you thinking?
