The 15-month-old girl whose scalp was torn off by a pit-bull terrier Wednesday probably faces several years of surgery, the reconstructive surgeon who worked on her said this afternoon.

Charlotte Blevins following surgery for her injuries suffered in a dog attack.

Dr. Amardip Bhuller said Charlotte Blevins underwent about two-and-a-half hours of surgery Wednesday night and is doing well. He said she also was bitten on the chest and on an ear. Infection will continue to be a concern, Bhuller said. She most likely will undergo more surgery Monday.

Bhuller is an assistant professsor of surgery at Creighton University. He spoke at a press conference at the Creighton University Medical Center.

The girl was in serious condition late this afternoon.
